The Aviation Integration, Maintenance, Sustainment & Safety Branch of the Leidos Airborne Solutions Operations has an opening for a Chief Systems Engineer to provide leadership and management for systems engineering, integration, and management of missions systems for manned aircraft surveillance platforms and ground stations. In this fast-paced environment, you will lead a team of engineers, technicians, IT & IA professionals in engineering and integration activities providing leadership in the analysis, design, development, integration, testing, acceptance, maintenance, and evaluation of mission systems across multiple types of computer systems, networks, and sensors.
Oversee planning and execution of mission systems design and integration into airborne platforms and ground stations with a methodical approach to ensure traceability to requirements including implications to airworthiness release (AWR) and authorizations to operate (ATOs).
Oversee the integration design of mission systems to include military avionics, airborne sensors, and military communications systems.
Provide reporting to the Director of Engineering and Program Managers on project statuses and staff forecasts, providing inputs into program integrated master schedules and assessing technical risks and gaps throughout a project’s lifecycle.
Provide leadership to a team of engineers, technicians, and IT & IA professionals in the design, development, integration, and deployment of airborne systems.
Lead and grow team of engineers and integrators providing mentorship and professional growth opportunities.
Oversee compliance with cybersecurity/information assurance policies and procedures following the Risk Management Framework.
Oversee implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to document steps to maintain and integrate mission equipment.
Provide subject matter expert support to RFIs, RFPs, RFQs, etc.
Active DoD TS/SCI Clearance.
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field; additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
Minimum of twelve (12) years of related experience in Engineering or related field.
Experience managing team of ten (10) or greater for a minimum of three (3) years.
Experience with military avionics, military communications, and airborne sensor systems.
Strong understanding of IT principles and practices.
Minimum of six (6) years of experience with RMF/DIACAP on airborne platforms.
Possess strong problem-solving, organizational, and verbal/written communication skills.
Experience with DoD avionics, to include but not limited to, communication, navigation, COMSEC, and aircraft survivability equipment repair and modification.
Broad technology experience in systems engineering, requirements tracking, testing, and validation.
Advanced knowledge of IT principles and practices strongly desired such as certifications in Cisco, Microsoft, and Linux.
Be capable of working independently or as a team.
Strong desire to grow and learn new technologies.
