Job Description:

Leidos program is seeking a Communications Writer/Editor to support efforts for SMIT; responsible for development and submission of complex customer leadership facing briefs, meeting facilitation for key customer and company boards, award fee development and special projects. SMIT is the largest IT services program for the Navy. Under the Service Management, Integration, and Transport, the Leidos team will deliver the core backbone of the Navy-Marine Corps Intranet, including cybersecurity services, network operations, service desk, and data transport. Ultimately, Leidos will support the Navy in unifying its shore-based networks and data management to improve capability and service while also saving significant dollars by focusing efforts under one enterprise network.

The selected candidate will author, compile, edit, and proof presentations, deliverable documents and programmatic and proposal documentation through internal approval processes and to customer and business operation schedule. He/she will ensure that presentation and documents conform to program standards and Data Item Description (DID) requirements, and will work with the program, engineering and operations team to define content, collect status, and branding/messaging of the documents to program and customer standards. He/she will have primary responsibility for development and delivery of contractually required, time sensitive program governance materials. He/she work closely with customer, program and technical staff and will be responsible for managing multiple assignments simultaneously.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Oversee the collection and organization of information, and preparation, editing, revision and status for contractual program related meetings, program governance meetings, and presentations.

  • Interface with customer, government and internal leadership, product and service subject matter experts to collect information and status for contractual program related meetings and presentations.

  • Track, log, and communicate program actions and issues at assigned meetings.

  • Work closely with program Data Management staff to ensure document configuration management (CM) and version control for all deliverables assigned.

  • Maintain a current internal document Sharepoint library of all assigned deliverables

  • Assist in contributing and editing of program style guides.

  • Provide or coordinate special documentation services as required, which may include collection, development, editing, and peer review of proposals, training, and other materials as assigned. 

Basic Qualifications

  • Requires a BA degree and 4-8 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 2-6 years of prior relevant experience.

  • US Citizen and DoD Secret Clearance

  • Excellent writing and editing skills, and knowledge of style guidelines.

  • At least 4 years of technical writing or content management experience preparing documents, reports, responses, Contract Data Requirements List (CDRLs), and briefings targeted to a wide range of audiences, including senior management

  • Experience effectively formatting and editing program documents, publications and proposals, including writing, editing, and illustrating using the MS Office Suite

  • Experience working with system engineers, software engineers, and program management to translate technical information into clear, concise documentation to include customer presentations and program materials

  • Must be able to plan and prioritize personal tasking and be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing

  • Must be an independent thinker, capable of performing high quality work, both independently and with a team, in a fast-moving environment

  • At least 2 years facilitating senior level customer and internal meetings

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat Pro.

  • Experience with Navy/DoD programs, NMCI highly desirable.
