Job Description:

Leidos is looking for a Data Scientist for a position in the Mclean, VA area. This position requires an active TS/SCI with Polygraph in order to be considered.

Lines of effort shall include direct operational support by facilitating data gathering in highly technical situations, providing engineering design and implementation of data triage capabilities, and providing technical expertise to support the development of the overarching data acquisition and exploitation strategy. The Team will perform end-to-end quality assurance of data feeds and data sets, and provide engineering support for data triage and assessment. They will also design and deploy applications (e.g. web apps) to aid end users in triaging and exploiting data from multiple sources. The Data Scientist will use appropriate tools and computer programming languages, such as Python scripts, to collect and process data from a variety of sources and use APIs to programmatically access data and build user-facing applications to work with that data. They will also create, maintain, and enhance systems in support of data exploitation, enhance existing systems to support new data pipelines, and create or improve custom collection scripts written in Python. The Data Scientist will create or improve scripts leveraging APIs for collection needs, automate data clean-up and conditioning of collected data, and automate data management and dissemination steps.

Mandatory Skills:

  • Requires BS degree and 12 – 15 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 10 – 13 years of prior relevant experience. May possess a Doctorate in technical domain.

  • Demonstrated experience programming in at least one common compiled or interpreted language, e.g. Python, Ruby, Java, Perl, C, and C++.

  • Demonstrated experience working across team and office lines to gather and exchange data on specialized matters.

  • Demonstrated experience analyzing questions, formulating requirements, determining suitable analytic approaches, evaluating results, and communicating findings to partners and stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex, technical findings into an easily understood narrative (i.e. tell a story with the data) in graphical, verbal, or written form.

  • Demonstrated experience working with data in a variety of structured and unstructured formats.

  • Demonstrated experience with a variety of database types, e.g. SQL, NoSQL, and SQLite.

  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with colleagues to develop custom-tailored products.

  • Demonstrated experience defining requirements and infrastructure for running large-scale graph analytics and natural language processing in a production environment.

Desired Skills:

  • Demonstrated experience with data management tools such as Hadoop, MapReduce, Tableau, or similar.

  • Demonstrated experience with computer network exploitation and remote network operations.

  • Demonstrated experience with cyber or technical operations.

  • Demonstrated experience with cyber or technical targeting
