More About the Role:
Leidos is seeking a Network Storage Engineer to support related efforts for SMIT, the largest IT services program for the Navy. Under the Service Management, Integration, and Transport (SMIT), Leidos team will deliver the core backbone of the Navy-Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI), including cybersecurity services, network operations, service desk, and data transport. Ultimately, the Leidos team will support the Navy in unifying its shore-based networks and data management to improve capability and service while also saving significant dollars by focusing efforts under one enterprise network. The successful candidate will support storage solutions and analysis for the NMCI network.
What You'll Get to Do:
The Network Storage Engineer will contribute to the analysis, design, planning and ongoing support to network storage solutions.
Other duties include:
•Perform analysis and hardening activities to address STIGs and mitigations.
•Contribute to estimates for new projects for the Basis of Estimates (BOEs).
•Work closely with Information Assurance to provide information for accreditation of storage systems.
-Support solution development and engineering work in the Storage Engineering and Virtualization functional areas.
•Participate in the planning of upgrades, replacement, configuration, and maintenance of systems with regards to storage and capacity requirements.
•Support the engineering of solutions that provide secure, effective and efficient operation of systems, architecture, and topology.
•Participate in new and existing IT modernization, expansion, and improvement projects for the NMCI network storage.
•Collaborate with external customers, management, subcontractors, vendors, and other engineering disciplines.
•Comply with ITSM processes and procedures.
•Comply with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) governance and use MBSE tools.
•Comply with Cybersecurity requirements within the DoDI 8500.01 and DON 5239.
•Support the development and maintenance of processes, checklists, and procedures for storage.
You'll Bring These Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline from an accredited college or university.
•Eight or more years’ experience on programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
•Must be a U.S. Citizen and possess an active Secret clearance to start the program.
•Hands-on experience in working with DoD networks.
•Ability to multi-task, self-assign work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
•Motivated self-starter with ability to lead and work in a matrix organization and communicate effectively with peers, subordinates and program leadership.
•Strong analytical, communication and troubleshooting skills that enable proactive and effective collaboration with a virtual team, including the ability to clearly articulate status and present to both customers and program leadership.
•Technical knowledge and skills in network storage.
•Hold or obtain a Security+ or other applicable certification to meet DoD 8570 requirements.
-Travel may be required.
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
•Experience working in large information technology enterprise environments.
•Experience in collaborating with other enterprise technologists both internal and external to resolve complex technical issues.
•Experience working on DoD programs, specifically Navy programs.
•Experience developing SE artifacts in multiple systems development paradigms and methodologies.
