Job Description:

Leidos has an immediate opportunity for a Systems Engineer Release Lead to provide engineering support to the Airspace Mission Planning Division, Hanscom AFB, MA. In this role you will work with stakeholders to understand requirements, goals and objectives associated with a particular system release. Position can support from Orlando FL, Shalimar FL or Lexington, MA with potential telework 1-2 days a week.

The engineering team includes engaged subject matter experts (SMEs) and a Program Manager (PM) providing leadership to identify and propose solutions to the clients, peer engineers, and end users. This position will elevate skills and experiences to support our full-scope mission planning efforts. OJT is combined with annual educational opportunities to continue the development of the engineer. We are seeking a self-starter that likes taking on challenges and being a leader with engineering solutions; a person that collaborates well in teams and likes to work toward consensus within each team.  The enterprise is embracing leading edge methodologies for Agile and Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).

Primary Responsibilities

  • Establish requirements in database tools and techniques for validation and integration.

  • Utilize System Architecture and Model Based Systems Engineering for analyses for total systems.  Recommend impacts and establish goals for standards and best practices.

  • Provide a functional description of the product and where / how it will be utilized in the production environment.

  • Ensure coordination between users, LUXCE and developers so that the product provides the expected value to the end users and stakeholders when it is released.

  • Clearly define the deployment environment & prepare  everything for the product to be deployed to it successfully

  • Lead the coordination effort across all Solutions and Agile Release Trains (ARTs) (or Suppliers) to implement, test, and deploy for the designated systems release and ensure all CM concerns are met.

  • Coordinate with the Business Owner to address resourcing problems.

  • Work with the Air Force Product Integration Team (PIT) & Distribution Team to ensure integration quality and testing adequacy prior to making release decisions

  • Coordinate with Cybersecurity representatives to clear all ATO type hurdles. 

  • Attend Product Owner Scrum meetings and participate in Program Increment (PI) planning events.

Basic Qualifications

  • Requires an active DoD Secret security clearance.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related technical discipline and 8 - 12 years of relevant experience or Masters with 6 - 10 years of relevant experience.

  • Demonstrable hands-on knowledge of engineering concepts and expertise in applying these concepts to hardware-intensive systems. 

  • Experience working and managing tasks in a DoD Systems Engineering Environment.

  • Experience with requirements database tools and techniques.

  • Experience with System Architecture and Model Based Systems Engineering.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required to collaborate with customer representatives, domain experts, and other engineers in the development of complex software systems.

  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Operational mission systems planning experience.

  • General familiarization of the DoD system development and acquisition processes.

  • General familiarization with DoD technical order system and processes.   

  • Experience with hardware/software systems integration, Agile Software Development, SAFe, and Software Engineering Institute (SEI) Capability Maturity Model-Integrated (CMMI) processes.

  • Experience with Jira, Jira Align, and Confluence a plus.
