In this exciting and challenging road warrior Installation Technician role, you’d have direct impact, working onsite at various Airports ensuring our nation’s safety in travel installing and upgrading Security Screen Equipment and Computer Network Systems.  Expectations for successful execution of your important role will include:

Primary Responsibilities

  • Installing and commissioning conveyor systems and electrical connections on industrial handling equipment such as https://www.leidos.com/markets/aviation/security-detection/checked-baggage

  • Installing, repairing and modifying equipment in the field

  • As needed, your expertise and strong communication skills may be called upon by management direction, to provide customer training as needed

  • As your knowledge and experience continues to grow, you will be performing a variety of maintenance and technical support on products such as equipment, integrated systems and subsystems, and software at customer and/or factory locations

  • The importance of this role and technical capabilities may lead toward your being called upon to work on equipment that has little or no documentation or training

  • Success for all parties involved and impacted will require meeting weekly project installation goals within required deadlines

  • Documentation and timely submittal of  all inspections, maintenance, repair work is a critical part of this role, as you are ensuring the safety of travelers and their families

  • You will ensure that tools and test equipment are properly maintained and calibrated

  • Your field experience and documentation will enable you to assess product/equipment; enabling you to make recommendations and/or modifications or improvements to equipment, improving  documentation and operating processes

  • You will have communication avenues to seek and/or provide technical support to customers and other service professionals as required

  • Clear and concise business communication proficiency, both oral and written are essential for successful performance of this role

  • Your agility and flexibility with travel, overtime and work hours other than Monday-Friday may be required

  • Troubleshoots and diagnoses malfunctions to eliminate problem in minimum time.

  • Installs, upgrades and removes products ensuring coordinative engineering field change.

  • Maintains effective customer communications and relations.

  • Willing to work on challenging international projects for short durations.

  • Work well with peers from various backgrounds to build effective work relationships.

Basic Qualifications

  • Current U.S. Citizen with valid U.S. Passport in hand by hire date.

  • Must have a valid U.S. Driver’s License with Real ID.

  • Must pass extensive criminal background check, drug test and extensive credit check

  • Be able to always pass FBI criminal checks to maintain employment working at secure operation areas

  • AS degree or graduate of technical school in electronics field or equivalent experience such as military.

  • 2+ years’ experience in field or installation service environments

  • Recent graduates may be waived the experience requirement with a related BS/MS degree. 

  • Understand AC/DC theory, use of basic electronic testing equipment

  • Physically able to get in narrow spaces, climb ladders / stairs, and carry 50+ lbs. without assistance.

  • Must have correctable 20/20 vision (glasses or contacts) without colorblindness.

  • Candidates may be located anywhere within CONUS near a commercial airport as weekly travel is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Computer literacy; competency in use of all programs within MS Office Suite and aptitude for learning specialized software programs

  • Working knowledge of x-ray and/or CT technologies

  • Basic Linux comprehension, PLC experience is a plus

  • Previous field electrical assembly experience

  • Software integration with electric/mechanical equipment.

  • Previous hands on project management is a plus.
