Job Description:

The Government Health and Safety Operation has an opening for a Reasonable Accommodation Test Engineer to support a large healthcare contract in Baltimore.

The Reasonable Accommodation Test Engineer will serve as one of our client’s subject matter experts and provide define and specify the required support and guidance needed for assistive technologies related to short term and long term accommodations for People with Disabilities at work or returning to work for medical-based accommodations. The ideal candidate should have experience in analyzing system requirements as well as system descriptions to evaluate, test, and troubleshoot a variety of software and hardware configurations. Have the ability to remain tactful, calm, and persuasive in controversial and/or confrontational situations. This role requires exceptional communication and organizational skills, superior attention to detail and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment, strong analytical and critical thinking skills, and customer service focus.

     

Primary Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Product Manager, and Test Engineering Lead, you will be responsible, to include, but not limited to:

  • Interact with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Reasonable Accommodations Program team to provide technical recommendations and ensure the quality of software applications or products that support users with disabilities.
  • Determine solutions by testing and troubleshooting technical problems and issues that are unclear and require deep technical knowledge in order to assist customers with inquiries related to Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) assistive technology software and systems.
  • Conduct research, analyzing information and data, and present findings in a clear and concise format.
  • Serve as a Point of contact and escalation for assistive technology software related issues.
  • Coordinate the interaction with application and technical teams to ensure proper resources are in place to provide effective support during testing, installations, or troubleshooting sessions.
  • Utilize knowledge of precedents in test engineering and apply understanding of principles of related engineering and software technology to ensure test validity and integrity of systems supporting assistive technologies.
  • Develop and maintain test documentation including plans, guides, reports, etc.
  • Support a test program which includes establishing test methods and techniques by developing test plans, test requirements, writing test procedures and reports, and conducting tests, for the support of assistive technologies.
  • Perform regression testing on assistive technology software and hardware for build and/or image changes that will be implemented in the environment.
  • Provide expert advice, consultant services and support on technology compatible in the environment based on user needs.
  • Provide consultative and technical recommendation to employees as well as to management on a continuous basis regarding reasonable accommodation matters and cases.
  • Provide appropriate technology that satisfies the employee’s preference.
  • Coordinate the interaction with application and technical teams to ensure proper resources are in place to provide effective support during testing, installations, or troubleshooting sessions.
  • Provide expert advice, consultant services and support on technology compatible in the environment based on user needs.
  • Conduct testing and troubleshooting efforts of assistive technology with various system models, track issues/defects and resolution, and when necessary conduct team-by-team handoffs, provide status tracking throughout the day, and daily status reporting.
  • Execute service requests to implement new software applications and hardware upgrades.

All candidates supporting the CMS programs must have lived in the United States at least three (3) out of the last five (5) years prior in order to be considered.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, or Computer Science or Technical Certification(s) with 5+ years of progressive experience in a technical role within information technology or Master’s Degree in relevant field with 2+ years of prior relevant experience. Experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • Superior communication verbally and in writing (clear, concise, accurate) and interpersonal skills.
  • Superior customer service skills.
  • Experience providing support to end users, testing various hardware/software, troubleshooting hardware/software issues, and installing PC and peripheral equipment in a corporate environment.
  • Proficient in Windows operating systems currently supported by Microsoft and knowledge of Microsoft Services: Active Directory and Group Policy management
  • Working knowledge of MS Windows and network communication concepts
  • Experience testing and troubleshooting, OS configuration, network printing, and the installation of hardware and software
  • Strong verbal and written skills required to communicate technical information to staff of all levels
  • Good organizational skills required to track and resolve a variety of issues in a timely manner
  • Detail-oriented and able to work quickly and accurately under tight deadlines
  • Experience or familiarity with Agile methodology.
  • Knowledge of systems including Windows, and virtual environment (Citrix, VMware, AWS, OpenStack).
  • Experience and solid knowledge of scripting languages such as Perl, Python, PowerShell, VBScript.
  • Solid knowledge of PowerShell.
  • Ability to work at a high technical level on all phases of systems engineering activities.

     

Preferred Qualifications

List additional skills and experience that is “nice to have” but not required. 

     

  • Technical Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Security+, etc. 
  • Knowledgeable and/or familiar with assistive technologies and hardware such as JAWS, NVDA, Dragon Naturally Speaking, Kurzweil 1000 & 3000, Juliet 120 double-sided braille embosser, Varidesk.
  • Experience working with employees with disabilities.
  • Solid knowledge of MAC/iOS systems
