The National Airspace Systems Integration Support (NISC) program at Leidos is seeking an Engineering Planner to perform a variety of duties in connection with the preparation of high profile business intelligence documents for FAA senior leaders, Lines of Businesses, or other external groups. The position will be supporting the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) Central Service Center (CSC) Operations Support Group (OSG) Flight Procedures Team (FPT) by providing technical expertise in planning and integration of National Airspace Modernization. This position is based in Fort Worth, Texas and is an exciting opportunity to use your experience helping the NISC mission.
The ideal candidate should be able to communicate to a variety of audiences including FAA Headquarters, FAA field offices, Air Traffic Operations, Technical Operations, System Operations and users of the National Airspace System. Experience dealing with each of these organizations is necessary and the candidate must be knowledgeable of FAA orders to develop and provides assessments and technical recommendations. The ability to work in a team environment is critical as this will contribute to the overall success of the deliverable.
Primary Responsibilities for the position include:
Support the FAA CSC FPT through review and analysis of flight tracks and airspace recommendations and changes.
Assist in review of FAA facility directives and Letters of Agreement ensuring procedures comply with handbook requirements.
Review and provide air traffic expertise to environmental studies that are related to the National Airspace System.
Research Headquarters requests for clarifications and interpretations in accordance with current environmental laws, requirements and processes.
- Generally requires a Bachelors Degree and 4 to 8 years or prior relevant experience or Masters Degree with 2 to 6 years of experience. Additional relevant experience may be considered in the degree requirement.
- 8 plus years previous FAA Air Traffic Controller experience in an Enroute Facility or level 10 or greater Terminal Facility.
- 5 years FAA Management/Staff experience at an Enroute Facility or level 10 or greater Terminal Facility.
- Must be able to conduct research, evaluations, studies, and develop recommendation to the FAA customer.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Must be able to lead program team meetings and participate in national and regional telcons.
- Knowledge of systems that analyze air traffic flight tracks, airspace and geographies (PDARS, TFMS, TARGETS, etc.)
- Experience dealing with multiple lines of business in the FAA.
