What is a GEOINT Chief Mission Officer (CMO), and what will this amazing opportunity offer you?
The GEOINT Chief Mission Officer (CMO) has current and historical expertise in our customers’ operational analytic and production tradecraft, systems, workflows, tools, and methodologies. The CMO supports Leidos business development, engineering and leadership working on programs, research and development and new business capture, providing guidance and expertise to these teams based on their insight and experience as an analyst. The CMO interprets customer requirements, preferences, biases, workflows and use cases for Leidos teams so that we may build and deliver mission-relevant systems that operational users will understand, adopt and embrace. Likewise, the CMO interprets Leidos capabilities and value proposition to customers and their representatives so they may embrace the mission value Leidos delivers. The CMO meets frequently with customer analysts, their leadership and their representatives in service to these duties.
The CMO will often serve as “front person” for demonstrations of Leidos technical capabilities, acting as primary speaker, demonstrator and / or operator of these capability demonstrations. The CMO serves as the bridge, or interpreter, between Leidos and our customers’ mission experts as our customer modernizes their systems. These modernization efforts include, for example, cloud-computing migration, implementation of computer vision, machine learning, analytic modeling, object-based production, exploitation of new sensor types e.g. imagery / video / WAMI / GMTI, new geographic information systems (GIS) implementations and others. The CMO must demonstrate in-depth experience / expertise in the GEOINT domain.
The CMO understands deeply today’s tradecraft but has a passion for ways to improve it.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assesses customer objectives, goals, intents, requirements, standards, etc. to aide our engineering teams in translating them into concept of operations (CONOPS) and other design artifacts.
- Authors / co-authors white papers and proposals.
- Supports program and IRAD engineering teams to assure capability development remains mission-relevant and that the user experience remains consistent with customer needs and expectations.
- Supports engineering / development teams in the production of realistic and mission-relevant customer demonstrations.
- Serves as surrogate for customer analysts in the testing and evaluation of Leidos capabilities, representing customer interests and biases to our internal teams.
- Supports business development teams in customer engagements and document development.
- Evaluates and interprets customer RFQs, RFPs, RFIs and other customer need statements in support of program capture and R&D activities.
- Serves as primary customer-facing point-of-contact and speaker for capability demonstrations, evangelizing the benefits of Leidos capabilities
Basic Qualifications:
To be considered, a current and active TS/SCI w/ Poly is required.
Requires a Bachelor’s degree with 8-12 years of prior experience; in-lieu of a degree, 4 years of additional experience may be substituted.
Requires 7 years of experience as an analyst in the Customer's operational environment with expertise in the operational use of the tools and systems in the National System for GEOINT (NSG).
Expertise in the GEOINT tradecraft i.e. exploitation and interpretation of imagery, motion imagery, and other sensor modalities.
A passion for, but healthy skepticism of the ways the Customer may improve analysts’ productivity, analytic insight and user experience through the implementation of new / emerging technologies such as computer vision, machine learning, modeling, automation, object based production, crowd-sourced data labeling, etc.
Expertise in the production of analytic products, their usage and associated approval processes.
Must have excellent communication and proven writing skills (including proposal writing) to work with all levels of customer and internal organizations
Must be willing to engage in robust and healthy dialog with engineering teams to find the optimum balance between solid technical design and mission-relevance and user acceptance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Expertise in the exploitation of new sensor types
Expertise in multi-INT analysis
Demonstrated innovation and process-improvement in the analytic tradecraft.
Expertise in non-traditional analytic methods and tradecraft
Prior experience aiding engineering / technical teams in system design and/or prototyping
Experience with outcome-based approaches to analysis
