Leidos Accounting and Business Operations team is looking for an Intern Accountant in Tucson – AZ. The Intern Accountant will be responsible for preparing balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, reviewing accruals, preparing support schedules, and other accounting activities as required. Specific responsibilities would include working closely with project controllers while reviewing cost transfers. The Intern Accountant will learn compliance requirements related to administrative policies, internal controls, accounting policies, etc. The Intern Accountant should possess the skills to identify issues and resolve matter in a timely manner. The position will require the Intern Accountant to reach out to our internal customers and work with others in the Accounting Department. The term (length) of the position will vary based on candidate, but expected to last 3 to 6 months. This is a unique opportunity to join a progressive accounting team, immediately contribute, and learn along the way.

-Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or or a related field with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
-Familiar with basic accounting principles, specifically, a basic understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
-Must be self-motivated and willing to independently study concepts and policies with the goal of shortening the learning curve.
-Strong computer skills including moderate level experience with Microsoft Excel and a basic understanding of General Ledger software programs.
-Should have a flexible work schedule and the ability and willingness to work additional hours during surge or accounting close weeks
-U.S. Citizenship is required.
