Job Description:
Leidos is seeking a software engineer for one of our Application Services contracts. Candidates should be highly skilled and able to provide complex engineering tasks. Candidates may work individually or as a key member of a senior leadership team. This position may oversee and monitor performance across several disciplines, and when required, takes steps to resolve issues. Provides expert guidance and direction to Government and Vendor senior level technicians and managers. Directs multiple contractor and subcontractors teams through to project completion.
As a result of COVID precautions, the position requires working 2nd shift (2pm - 9pm). If/when COVID precautions can be relaxed, position may be flexible around moving to 1st shift.
Primary Responsibilities
Perform Java development - front end, back end, middle tier.
Development environments include Java, Angular, Wildfly, Openshift, Docker,
Performing software systems development function, including the design, development, troubleshooting, and debugging of software programs for software enhancements and new software-intensive systems and products. Duties include software requirements analysis, development of software products and software tools used for design, development and maintenance of infrastructure, and platforms. Determines hardware compatibility. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
Works to achieve key project/program objectives and deliverables. Responsible for entire projects or processes spanning multiple technical areas.
Manages large projects or processes with moderate impact on the achievement of sub-family results.
Develops solutions to complex technical issues and problems that impact multiple area or disciplines. Regularly employs ingenuity and creativity to develop new technical solutions and systems in order to achieve functional objectives.
Generally recognized as a leader in the industry in their area of expertise; sought out by others in the area of expertise for advice and guidance
Provide expert support, analysis, research, and advice into exceptionally complex problems, and processes relating to the subject matter
Serve as technical expert on executive-level project teams providing technical direction, interpretation and alternatives.
Perform highly specialized and technical tasks associated with the most current and cutting-edge technologies
May serve as a technical consultant to a project or a number projects dealing with area of technical expertise
Coordinate with contract management and Government personnel to ensure the problems have been properly defined and the solutions satisfy customer needs
Basic Qualifications
Must have recent experience in some of these key areas (Jenkins, Git, Redmine, Artifactory, Postgres 10, some Cloud technologies (such as S3 and ElastiCache), Oracle, and Weblogic.) and be willing/able to be in key development/integration positions.
High School diploma/GED with 12 years of experience, or Associates degree with 10 years of experience, or Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of experience, or Masters degree with 6 years of experience, or PhD with 4 years of experience.
TS/SCI with a Poly is required.
Expertise is in a particular area of Information Technology (e.g., Cybersecurity, Information Systems Architecture, Telecommunications Systems Design, Architecture, Implementation, Information Systems Integration, Software Development Methodologies, Security Engineering, Communications and Network Systems Management).
Preferred Qualifications
Security+ CE certification is preferred but not required.
