More About the Role:
Under the Service Management, Integration, and Transport (SMIT), the Leidos team will deliver the core backbone of the Navy-Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI) and Marine Corps Enterprise Network (MCEN), including cybersecurity services, network operations, service desk, and data transport.  In order to continually modernize these networks, the Navy and Marine Corps will award project Task Orders onto the SMIT contract. The Defense Group of Leidos has an opening for a Senior Project Manager to support the standup of the organization processes to deliver and execute project for Navy Claimants on the SMIT contract.

This Senior Project Manager will be responsible for standing up the operations of the portfolio of SMIT claimant projects. This effort will include conducting due diligence with the incumbent team as well as the customer to gather information on the as-is, and apply that knowledge to the design of the CONOPS for delivery under our new contract. The Senior Project Manager will track the capabilities necessary to begin accepting claimant projects, and will manage those dependencies to completion to meet transition timeline needs. This will involve working with leadership from Operations and cross-functional support.

The Senior Project Manager will develop processes and procedures with the appropriate tailoring of the project management processes for the claimant projects scope, size and scale, as well as the definition of the appropriate integration points with Operations and support functions. The Senior Project Manager will support the ramp-up of project management staff to support the claimant projects and will lead that team through the transition phase and into steady-state execution.

What You'll Get to Do:
•Work strategically and independently with internal and external groups to develop the processes and procedures necessary to effectively manage the SMIT claimant project.
•Develop trusted advisor relationships with the primary Government customers. 
•Assist in tailoring the proposal process for claimant projects to meet scale and speed requirements. 
•In execution, ensure that projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget.
•Define and mitigate overall program risks.
•Assist in the development of tools and procedures to keep stakeholders informed of project status and deliverables, as well as risk and mitigation strategies.
•Support hiring activities for project management and execution staff to execute claimant projects. 
•Clearly and efficiently communicate status to both internal and external executive level leadership.

You'll Bring These Qualifications:
-Requires a BA/BS or equivalent experience and 5+ years or prior relevant experience or Masters with 3+ years of prior relevant experience.
•Must be a U. S. citizen with 8+ years of progressively responsible experience managing and/or executing the planning, provisioning, and delivery of IT projects.
•Currently possess an active DoD Secret security clearance.
•Teamwork-oriented with a strong focus on customer satisfaction.
•Ability to think strategically, solve problems effectively and tenaciously follow-through to ensure success.
•Results-oriented with strong people and time management skills, highly organized, motivated and driven to succeed.
•Experience working with clients at all organizational levels with a high degree of professionalism and business acumen.  
•Strong ability to create and edit project documents, materials, and presentations. 
•Excellent written and oral communication skills are required with a demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional teams.
•Candidate must be highly motivated, proactive, organized and have the ability to manage concurrent efforts and interface with external clients in a fast-paced environment with a high level of accuracy.
•Candidate must possess excellent leadership, organization, and communication skills.
•Working experience in government contracting, particularly related to financial aspects and standard business practices (e.g., familiarity with and ability to interpret statements of work, contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, etc.).
•Excellent leadership, diplomatic and motivational skills including the ability to lead in a matrixed environment.
•Solid ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating teamwork, innovation and excellence.

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
•Master’s degree in engineering, computer science, business management, or other related field.
•Prior Navy or Marine Corps experience. 
•Experience managing large-scale contract transitions and associated transition of services.
•Demonstrated experience with managing the planning, provisioning, and delivery of information technology services to large organizations.
•PMP or DAIWI Certification.
•Earned Value Management experience.
