Job Description:

The Defense Group at Leidos currently has an opening for a Java Software Developer to work at company offices in the Sterling, Virginia with occasional travel to the Pentagon for client meetings and systems access.  This is an exciting opportunity to use your engineering experience helping a team of contractor and government personnel support the Air Force in developing and managing technology systems supporting the DoD Foreign Clearance Program.  This DoD-wide program enables compliance with U.S. Government, foreign government, and civil aviation authority policy, requirements, and procedures for DoD personnel and aircraft when they travel to foreign locations.

Job Summary

This position will give you the opportunity to work across a number of applications in a collaborative, agile-inspired environment. These web-based applications and related on-line data bases and documents enable DoD personnel and aircraft travel clearance workflow and critical information sharing processes to ensure compliance with U.S. and foreign government travel policy and procedures. You will be central to our software development and deployment process, primarily responsible for writing and executing test plans, manual testing, and running and interpreting results of automated tests. You will collaborate closely with software development, help desk, and product management staff, as well as our client.

Primary Responsibilities

In this role you will be working with a team of software developers, document editors, service center staff and DoD personnel to develop, test, deploy, operate, maintain, and continuously improve software applications that support the DoD Foreign Clearance Program. Your responsibilities will include developing and executing test plans, collaborating with software developers on best practices and process changes, documenting software defects, and monitoring bug resolutions. You will analyze HP Fortify reports for security vulnerabilities, and identify, prioritize and solve issues, and will assist in reproducing, investigating, and debugging software issues in coordination with other development team members. You will identify opportunities for test automation, participate in planning meetings, and assist is software development during periods where testing is not needed.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and less than 2 years of relevant experience in software development and testing in JAVA. Experience in designing front end automated testing solutions.  Requires US citizenship and ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

Interim or Final Secret clearance. Experience with Agile Teams and scrum methodology. Experience with Frameworks MVC, Hibernate, and Java 8/J2EE.  Knowledge of tools such as SVN and Maven. Knowledge of Software testing.
