Leidos currently has an opening for a Field Mechanical Engineer in our Abingdon office in Maryland. This is an opportunity to apply your engineering education, training and insight to a mission of national importance. In this position, you will support Leidos across multiple technical areas within the CBRNE and Training Portfolio.
Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to; supporting projects in different geographical areas performing document reviews, technical research, equipment walk downs, and providing technical input associated with chemical operations. Observe activities performed by others and provide insight related to process issues to include technical approach, progress, and potential issues and risks. Review of Engineering Change Proposals and temporary configuration changes, provide technical input pertaining to the justification, cost and schedule impacts, and configuration management requirements. Provide technical editing of CDRL’s and work products as required.
Support Configuration Control Board (CCB) meetings and provide technical input to assist in resolving technical issues and interface with the stakeholders to collect, review, analyze, and evaluate technical data. Review documentation and attend ongoing reviews, status meetings, and discussions.
Support deployment and installation of Force Protection systems. Become a subject matter expert on operation of systems, set up, tear down, and storage. Support preparation of training materials including research and revising technical information into instructional format provided. Provide group and as necessary individual training on systems operation, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair.
Ideal candidate will be innovative, organized, have strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize and communicate activities and status of work when tasked with several things at one time. Successful candidate will become familiar with Leidos cost and proposal activities. Support preparation of Bases of Estimate (BOE) for new or existing programs. Support development of technical white papers for government areas of interest. Seek related past performance citations. Provide technical editing of work products as required.
Four year degree in engineering or technical discipline
Minimum of 2 years’ demonstrated practical experience including internships and real world project work
Must be able to obtain and maintain a National Agency Check w/investigation (NACi) Clearance
Able to medically clear to wear personnel protective including Air Purifying Respirator (APR) when necessary
Ability to use CAD, Adobe Illustrator, Corel experience and other engineering software
Experiences with process operation system design an installation
Experience training individuals or groups
Experience with written and verbal communications of technical information
Must be able to work in a team-based environment.
Must have the ability to learn and understand new systems processes and technologies.
