The Government Health and Safety Solutions operation currently has an opening for a Chief Engineer to support a large healthcare contract in Baltimore, MD & Washington, DC.
The Chief Engineer will be responsible for directing systems engineering activities for Information Technology Service Management (ITSM) in support of operating and maintaining the customer’s systems. This position reports to the Program Manager and will work directly with the customer, Deputy Program Manager and the program Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to ensure the customer’s large-scale, mission critical Information Technology (IT) operations meet or exceed customer expectations and contract Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
Primary engineering leadership working with the customer
Responsible for engineering execution including planning, forecasting, metrics and adherence to SLAs
Responsible for the program technical baseline and ensuring alignment with customer priorities, contractual needs and execution within program budget and schedule
Responsible for managing and aligning engineering resources against planned work streams
Responsible for leadership and oversight of Engineering Review Board activities as well as Engineering participation in Configuration Control Board activities
Responsible for Engineering Risk and Opportunity Management in alignment with Leidos and customer risk management frameworks to include capturing risks and establishing mitigation plans
Lead and champion the adoption and use of the Leidos Systems Engineering Process Asset Library to ensure reliability and repeatability across the program functional areas
Work with the program CTO to drive innovation and implement changes to improve performance and reliability
Provide technical leadership and coordination across Integrated Service Delivery (ISD) team by ensuring Engineering leads are engaged in support of ISD activities
BS degree and 12 – 15 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 10 – 13 years of prior relevant experience. Experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
- Must be able to obtain a Public Trust Clearance
- Demonstrated ability to lead engineering efforts in a multidisciplinary environment comprised of engineers and information technology professionals
- ITIL/ PMP certifications
- Engineering experience on ITSM programs
- Experience leading cross-functional (ISD/IPT) teams in program execution
- Experience dealing directly with internal/external customers, technical and management staff to include providing briefings and presentations
- Experience prioritizing and reconciling work tasks along with customer priorities
- Team building experience training and developing a team that executes within disciplined engineering processes
- Strong communication, time management and interpersonal skills
- Self-motivated leader capable of driving tasks to completion with minimal oversight
- Experience with Risk Management Frameworks
