Leidos has an opening for a Security Specialist to provide personnel security to assist a Department of Defense customer in performing its research and development mission through managing and administering its Special Access Program (SAP) work environment and program oversight responsibilities. The security specialist is responsible for executing procedures and processes to administer personnel access to protected information and processes, day-to-day security policy administration, record keeping and ensuring organization practices meet required codes and regulations. The employee compiles data for access, accountability, and tracking reports; supports and conducts self, internal, and external audits, inspections and investigations in accordance with DoD and National requirements, regulations, and policies. This position may implement and provide guidance to customers and management on personal or physical security issues such as security training, regulatory requirements, security policies and procedures and emerging trends in physical and or personal security.
This position may also assist and train peers, other security professionals, or other office occupants on security-related subjects. They resolve unclear problems and issues faced, which may require understanding of broader set of issues by drawing from prior experiences, and with analysis of the issue. They communicate clearly and efficiently with contacts internal and external to the customer organization office to obtain or provide information on matters of significant importance.
This position may work independently, or as a part of small cross-functional teams including technical, contractual, and managerial personnel. This position requires familiarity with DoD Security program directives, regulations and policies for personnel, facility and information security.
This position requires a strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently to follow tasks through to their completion.
**We prefer candidates with one or more of the following characteristics: previous experience as a Program Security Representative (PSR), Contractor Program Security Officer (CPSO) or Facility Security Officer (FSO); and, Working knowledge of DoD SAP Security Manuals, JAFAN Series, ICD 705, NISPOM, JPAS, and ISFD.**
The employee will work both independently, and as part of small teams where they may be the sole security specialist analyst. They will coordinate as needed with the larger customer organization to include resolving issues, and support of organization-wide policy implementation, audit and inspection. They may coordinate/lead small-to-medium sized projects where security specialist functions and responsibilities are a major component.
Though not frequent, and none required in past several years, there is a slight possibility for travel for up to 5% of the time on this project.
Maintain program security databases
**Implement and maintain Top Secret Control Officer (TSCO) Procedures**
**Implement and maintain Media Control Plan**
Organize and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) Security Paperwork
**Conduct alarm testing and maintenance**
Provide primary support to Personnel and Industrial Security Programs (PERSEC)
Develop for review, revise, and implement government approved standard operating procedures (SOPs) for various security areas
Work under the direction of the task lead, senior team members, and in coordination with government security section counterparts
This position may also assist with test planning and support, to include assisting with test plans and technology demonstrations.
High School Diploma or equivalency with 3+ years of experience
Currently possess an active DoD Top Secret security clearance with the ability to successfully complete a post-hire Special Access Program briefing
Ability to work in a dynamic environment to organize and analyze information from disparate sources
Familiarity with DoD security manuals, directives, regulations and policies for personnel security, particularly SAP program requirements
Strong computer and communication skills, and proficiency with MS Office applications-word, PPT and excel
Ability to pursue Security Professional training toward the completion of professional accreditation
One (1) or more years of previous experience in a comparable position within another DoD Special Access Program offices (SAP)
Prior experience with the ARL organization
DoD Security Specialist/Professional certification (SFPC)
Associates or Bachelor’s degree or active pursuit thereof
