Job Description:

The Aviation Integration, Maintenance, Sustainment & Safety Branch of the Leidos Airborne Solutions Operations has an opening for an Engineering Manger to provide leadership and management of Mechanical and Electrical designs for the integration of missions systems for manned aircraft surveillance platforms and ground stations. We are looking for motivated individuals who want to join a team dedicated to excellence and continuous progress. In this fast-paced environment, you will lead a team of mechanical, electrical, aerospace, and airworthiness engineers in design, production, and integration activities providing leadership in the analysis, design, development, and integration of mission systems on airborne ISR assets.  

Primary Responsibilities

  • Oversee planning and execution of mechanical and electrical designs into airborne platforms and ground stations with a methodical approach to ensure traceability to requirements including implications to airworthiness release (AWR) and authorizations to operate (ATOs).

  • Oversee the integration design of mission systems to include military avionics, airborne sensors, and military communications systems.

  • Provide reporting to the Director of Engineering and Program Managers on project statuses and staff forecasts, providing inputs into program integrated master schedules and assessing technical risks and gaps throughout a project’s lifecycle.

  • Provide leadership to a team of mechanical, electrical, aerospace, and airworthiness engineers, in the design, development, integration, and deployment of airborne systems.

  • Lead and grow team of engineers and integrators providing mentorship and professional growth opportunities.

  • Oversee compliance with airworthiness requirements (FAA, Army, Navy, Air Force, etc.).

  • Oversee implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to document steps to maintain and integrate mission equipment.

  • Provide subject matter expert support to RFIs, RFPs, RFQs, etc.

Basic Qualifications

  • Active DoD TS/SCI Clearance

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field.

  • Minimum of twelve (12) years of related experience with Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.  Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

  • Experience with detailed mechanical, structural, and electrical designs for airborne applications on Part 23 and Part 25 aircraft.

  • Knowledgeable in airworthiness requirements, including FAA and Army regulations.

  • Experience managing team of ten (10) or greater.

  • Experience with military avionics, military communications, and airborne sensor systems.

  • Possess strong problem-solving, organizational, and verbal/written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience with DoD avionics, to include but not limited to, communication, navigation, COMSEC, and aircraft survivability equipment designs.

  • Broad technology experience in systems engineering, requirements tracking, testing, and validation.

  • Be capable of working independently or as a team.

  • Strong desire to grow and learn new technologies.
