Leidos is hiring a Junior Transportation Analyst based in the Washington DC metropolitan area (DC, Maryland, Virginia). The candidate will work remotely but must be able to commute to USDOT Headquarters in DC on a regular basis. We are looking for detail-oriented, proactive, self-motivated and highly organized candidates with a strong ability to multi-task and sharp self-time management. The ideal candidate must have ability to think analytically and apply general concepts to other applicable topics.
Under supervision, the Junior Transportation Analyst will perform variety of work that include:
Assisting with database management, data entry, data processing, and analysis on transportation focused projects, and investigating deviations based on data analysis results
Supporting work in the ground transportation areas of Operations, Safety, Connected Vehicles, Freight, and Access Management. The candidate will be responsible for assisting more senior positions and/or performing functional duties under the oversight of more senior positions.
Supporting development of technical proposals to win new work, transportation implementation plans, and technical documents for local, state, and/or national government initiatives that aim to influence and change behavior of the general public and/or professionals (i.e., transportation engineers, state and local officials, planning and policy professionals).
Supporting transportation-related contract preparation, research, data collection, and reporting activities.
The candidate is expected to work 40 hours a week. The role may require some travel to project sites (within the US) to support meetings, including meeting preparation and facilitation, writing meeting proceedings reports, and supporting web-conferences and webinars.
Typical job functions include:
Research on transportation subjects
Data entry, processing, and analysis
Investigate deviations based on data analysis results
Communicate with stakeholders and clients on data analysis findings
Report preparation/technical writing
Meeting preparation, attendance, and documentation.
Proposal coordination and development
Candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in Planning, Engineering, or Transportation-related field and have excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong attention to detail. He or she should have experience with using and maintaining databases. Experience with MS SQL and Sharepoint is required. She/he must be fluent with Microsoft Office tools/programs, especially Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Experience reading and writing Microsoft Access’ VBA language.
College coursework or experience in Transportation Planning, Engineering, Technical Writing, and/or Database Development.
