Job Description

The Defense Group at Leidos is seeking a highly motivated and customer-oriented Senior Project Manager who will be responsible for managing the cost, schedule and performance for Government projects. In this role, you will prepare labor and material estimates, interface with end users, project teams, and Government management to prepare project estimates and oversee successful project execution. This position is located at Ft. Belvoir, VA and will require frequent travel to the Program location at the Aberdeen Proven Grounds (APG) in Aberdeen, MD.

Primary Responsibilities 

Manage and lead the full lifecycle of C5ISR prototyping projects from initiation to customer delivery including oversight of engineering design and development, manufacturing, platform integration, and testing.

Responsible for working with customer Program Officers to:

  • Finalize work requirements and develop project scope,    

  • Prepare labor and material cost estimates,

  • Identify milestones and deliverables for project schedule

Oversee execution of assigned project(s), ensuring all scope requirements are completed on time and within budget.

Provide status updates to the integrated master schedule in MS Project and Project Web Application (PWA).

Report project milestones, risks, and performance to Government management and customer Program Officers as required.

Work with Government budget staff to track customer funding and allocate Government and Contractor resources.

Basic Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering, Business, Accounting or a related scientific/technical discipline and eight (8) or more years of relevant experience. Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

  • Advanced knowledge of project management best practices such as critical path methodology, schedule quality, and schedule execution metrics.

  • Ability to prepare management-level reports, correspondence and presentations based on project activities.

  • Must be able to identify and mitigate project risks

  • Experience developing and reporting on metrics relative to schedule and financial performance.

  • Able to work independently with overall responsibility for project performance, facilitating the management of the customer projects on time and within cost.

  • Ability to work in a matrix team environment, actively and effectively managing relationships with customers, technical teams, and project managers.

  • Excellent organization and analytical skills including the ability to proactively identify and articulate performance and schedule trends.

  • Exceptional ability to communicate with leadership, staff and customers.

  • Must have experience in tracking costs, schedule and performance progress.

  • Active Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project Management certified (i.e., PMP, CAPM)

  • Experience working on DoD projects involving design, production/manufacturing, and testing.

  • Experience with MS Project and SharePoint Project Web Application (PWA).
