The National Airspace Systems Integration Support (NISC) program at Leidos is seeking an Engineering Planner with FAA Air Traffic Controller experience to work out of our Fort Worth, Texas location. This professional will provide support to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Central Service Area (CSA) Runway Safety Program as a Subject Matter Expert.
The Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) top priority is maintaining safety in the National Airspace System (NAS). The Runway Safety Program’s goal is to improve safety by decreasing the number and severity of Runway Incursions (RIs), Runway Excursions (REs) and serious Surface Incidents (SIs). The FAA’s National Runway Safety Plan (NRSP) outlines the FAA’s strategy to adapt its runway safety efforts through enhanced collection and integrated analysis of data, development of new safety metrics, and leveraged organizational capabilities in support of meeting this goal.
The candidate will be responsible for the creation of safety training materials and developing ‘Pilot Handbooks’ to supplement the Runway Safety Group’s ‘From The Flight Deck Series’ of training videos. The handbook includes airport best practices and numerous airfield specific information to include Facility description, hours of operation, airport lighting, Hot Spot description, etc.
The candidate will coordinate with each facility Air Traffic Manager and Facility NATCA FACREP to develop a handbook for all towered airports in the National Airspace System. Update the handbooks on a continuous basis per the 56-day chart cycle.
- Bachelors Degree and 8 to 10 years of prior relevant experience or Masters Degree and 6 to 10 years of experience. Additional years of experience in lieu of the degree requirement.
- Prior relevant experience must include 10 years previous FAA Air Traffic Controller experience in a Terminal or Enroute facility.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Must be able to work, manage and maintain information stored in a Knowledge Sharing Network (KSN)/SharePoint site(s).
- Must be able to conduct research, evaluations, studies, and present recommendations/solutions related to short and long-term program planning requirements
- Must be able to lead program team meetings and participate in national and regional telcons.
- Previous experience at a level 9/10/11/12 Air Traffic Control facility
- BA/BS degree from an accredited college
- FAA management and/or Staff experience
