Job Description:

As a senior design engineer, you will be required to take on responsibility of Leader and supervise/mentor designers/junior designers on specific projects. 

You will be expected to use engineering principles to provide efficient solutions to the development of processes and products, ranging from small assembly fixtures designs to larger more complex fixtures covering the length of any given vehicle Senior team member in the absence of the Applications Manager.

You will work on all stages of product design, from concept and development to design and manufacture, through to installation and final commissioning.  It will be expected this requirement is taken and a viable mechanical design solution is generated.

Other duties will involve: -

  • Supporting Applications Manager with performance reviews, conflict resolution, PDP’s.

  • Monitor the Applications department’s processes and discuss improvements where required, and implement improvements agreed with the leadership team.

  • Knowledge management, development, and maintenance.

  • Assist and advise other members of the applications team on solutions, stakeholder reviews, customer, and supplier interaction.

  • Manage external resources in support of the department including engineering resources.

  • Generation of 2D manufacturing and assembly drawings.

  • Generation of FEA’s to support the design phase.

  • Generating bill of materials including bought out items.

  • Developing a project specification with colleagues.

  • Identify & interpret customer requirements to understand their processes and develop the best solutions for their requirements.

  • Working with our sales team to professionally represent the company at a customer, gather data, and ask the right questions to define a project.

  • Technology research / analysis.

  • Risk identification and mitigation.

  • Produce technical proposals to the required level of detail as identified in the tender/RFQ.

  • Develop value-added propositions, proposals, RFQ and specifications as required .

Experience and Qualifications: -

To be considered for this role you will need to be able to demonstrate : -

  • Proven experience in Mechanical and Electrical / Software Engineering

  • Proven experience in a Mechanical Electrical / Software application environment.

  • Manufacturing Automation methods and processes

  • Creating through put optimised solutions

  • Value for money and current market value

  • Supplier base knowledge

  • Understanding of project costs - design, management, manufacture, installation etc.

  • Experience in the Materials Handling and Robotics engineering

  • Industry Automation controls techniques experience would be a benefit

  • Degree/HNC in Mechanical Electrical / Software Engineering or equivalent.

COVID Response
