Leidos is seeking a Mid-level System Administrator to support a large enterprise IT Modernization contract for the DOD.

This role requires an individual that has technical experience with administering Linux and Windows servers within a VMware or Hyper-V virtual environment. This individual should be detail oriented in order to capture customer requirements appropriately. This role is responsible for interacting with system engineers to implement solutions and document prototype test results and problems identified. Duties include examining customer requirements and suggesting and implementing appropriate corrective action to initiate an implementation in the development prototype environment and to assist the system engineering team in documenting the operational solution. This role analyzes problems and initiates solutions for preventing recurrence and analyzes existing infrastructure for tuning / performance enhancements. The individual will provide systems and software operations and maintenance support in a large, multi-enclave enterprise private cloud environment. This individual will work in a team environment to ensure mission needs are met and ensure functionality of capabilities of customers. Individuals in this role may be required to perform technical software configuration, rebooting, and other remedial actions on customer servers.

Responsibilities – What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Works with limited supervision to achieve day-to-day objectives as identified by Development Team Technical Leadership with direct impact on project timelines.

  • Responsible for sub-tasks within projects and specific deliverables in the Modernization efforts within the Delivery Order.

  • Typically responsible for providing documentation and meeting support to command staff as directed to provide project status / and or risks to success.

  • Develops technical solutions that require collaboration with other Cyber Analyst to deliver a functional SSMC, deep analyses and understanding of Cyber Artifacts delivered by the support contractor and advisory input to the Government Technical Monitor.

  • Develops solutions to technical problems and issues, and provides to the operations team for implementation and test, that require strong technical knowledge.

  • Communicates with internal and client project team members. Comfortable presenting to NH-04 and O-6 personnel.

  • Works to influence team members regarding solution design, process and/or approaches for cyber audits and tool deployment.

  • Requires deep understanding of and ability to apply Linux container and virtual environment configurations as well as software integration / release support and concepts of IT technical domain and has necessary understanding of other related specialty areas (RMF, Change Management).

  • Experience with interacting with customers to understand requirements.

  • Provide technical support, administration, and monitoring of Linux and Microsoft systems within a VMware or Hyper-V virtual environment.

  • Provide support for the implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of IT systems. Rapidly distinguish isolated configuration problems from enterprise-wide application/system problems; e.g. RMF hardening that may impact software operation.

  • Coordinate with stakeholders to collect data, conduct analysis, develop, and implement solutions associated with solution and requirements.

  • Implement solutions to complex technical issues.

  • Provide follow-up reports (technical findings, feedback, resolution steps taken) for Root Cause analysis, engineering technical assessment and process improvement initiatives.

Required Experience, Skills, and Education:

  • Foundational knowledge of AWS or Azure cloud services and the cloud ecosystem

  • Familiarity with Hyper Converged Infrastructure (HCI) concepts and solutions such as Dell VXRail or Dell Azure Stack

  • Experience with Tier 2 system administration of server operating systems such as Linux (CentOS, RHEL, or Ubuntu) and Microsoft Server (2012 R2/2016)

  • Familiarity with supporting virtual desktops running Linux or Microsoft Windows

  • Experience with Scripting/Automation through Linux Shell scripts, PowerShell, PowerCLI, or other scripting languages

  • Experience troubleshooting issues in a growing environment

  • Experience with log reviews, incident analysis, and identification of issue trends

  • Experience with server patch management methodologies

  • Time management skills with the ability to work within an IT Service Management/ticketing system (ServiceNow) independently

  • Ability to triage and properly classify incidents and prioritize work efforts accordingly

  • Strong oral and written communications skills

  • Track record of working effectively within a team, and support to peers toward improved processes and results

  • At a minimum, meet DoD 8570.11- IAT Level II certification requirements (currently Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, GSEC, or SSCP)

  • Bachelor's degree with 6+ years of relevant experience, Masters degree with 4+ years of relevant experience, Associate's with 8+ years of relevant experience, or High School Diploma with 10 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Experience, Skills, and Education – Favorable if you have:

  • Certification relating to VMware (VCA/VCP), Microsoft Server Administration (MCSA), or Linux Administration (Linux+) a plus.

  • RMF

  • DISA STIG Checklist Review (Application Security, Linux, Windows, etc.)

  • ACAS experience

Clearance Required:

  • Must be able to maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
