Job Description:
We require a cyber security engineering manager to manage and develop our cyber security engineering team to support existing customers and new and ongoing projects.
We are looking for individuals who manage a team and work confidently to make excellent security happen quietly with high assurance and no fuss. Simple, effective security. The role will manage apprentice and graduate cyber security engineers through to highly experience senior engineers across the UK to produce robust and efficiently managed solutions.
A critical part of the role will be to develop the security engineering team to create a feed of junior engineers through to senior roles. Also important is improving and maintaining staff morale and retention, and skills/resource management to support existing customer/projects and the future work pipeline.
The role requires a degree of customer liaison and will serve to support an ongoing a flexible operating environment, which we expect will develop further as our customer base continues to expand. The role will also work closely with other teams in the cyber security practice, and with engineering, project and business development teams in the UK and US. The role will primarily be responsible to the Head of Information Assurance & Cyber Security.
In additional to this specific manager role, the ideal candidate will be able to support the wider Leidos security capability, as the incumbent will be joining a talented and multi-faceted cyber team with a reach across our UK business delivering on commitments and seeking out great opportunities.
Process Skills/Experience
Experience of the IT systems engineering lifecycle (from requirements analysis through to acceptance and early life support, and disposal.)
Understanding of the controlling processes for the systems engineering lifecycle (e.g. requirements management, configuration management, testing and assurance)
Understanding of different lifecycles/methodologies (waterfall, incremental, agile, DevOps)
Experience working in both delivery and proposal environments
Technology skills/Experience
Excellent understanding of Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability (CIA) and practical experience in applying that.
Experience in defining and tracing through security engineering requirements for a system.
Understanding of network and boundary protection technologies (firewalls, mail gateways, load balancers, anti virus, IPS, IDS).
Understanding of Protective Monitoring systems, their operational application as well as design, implementation and configuration.
Understanding of authentication and authorisation technologies (SAML, LDAP, PKI, etc)
Communication and Soft Skills
Excellent managerial and people skills.
Experience of developing or mentoring junior staff.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and works well in a team environment;
Capable of developing and communicating a vision to meet the business goals;
A good level of commercial awareness

Covid Guidance
