The Data Sharing Coordinator plays a critical role in the coordination of data exchange between the medical and research organizations at NASA, as well as across the International Partner community involved in human life sciences research. The coordinator works across numerous system interfaces and forums to identify and integrates data sharing requirements; identifies data sharing efficiencies from multiple investigators, and develops data sharing plans. Provides data validation of medical data and applies knowledge of existing data repositories to address gaps; ensures the secure transmittal of data through the appropriate systems and distributes shared data to the researchers. The coordinator actively manages existing data sharing plans to ensure they reflect the most updated and efficient collection and sharing methods. The coordinator will also manage and support ongoing mission data requests or supplemental requests from investigators, as necessary. Provides support and shepherds human research program protocols through the various agency institutional review boards (IRBs) to ensure study validity to conduct research and subject consent.
Integrates requirements from multiple investigators and develops mission based data sharing plans.
Translates scientific requirements between internal and external researchers.
Develops processes to optimize data sharing and distribution.
Implements data sharing requests by ensuring the medical shared data is delivered to the researchers in adherence with the data sharing plans.
Supports, manages and tracks mission and supplemental data requests from human life sciences studies and represents request at the NASA’s data repository boards as needed, and provides subject consent as required.
Ensures user validation for system security access and experiment access updates for all mission users.
Responsible for maintaining confidentiality of all medical and personal information to which access has been granted.
Responsible for validating and redacting data using manual and electronic processes per data privacy standards.
Responsible for supporting development of presentations, or posters sessions, and tracking reports for NASA.
Responsible for responding to customer's data inquiries and concerns, addressing issues promptly.
Responsible for submission of Increment Complements and Data Sharing Plans prior to agency IRB deadlines, on behalf of the Deputy Element Scientist.
Responsible for submission of all human research program experiment amendments, renewals and expedited modifications to international agency IRBs.
Assist experiment teams in use of IRB tools, including training when necessary.
Communicate with all review board administrators, experiment teams, and flight projects promptly and clearly regarding upcoming meetings, target deadlines, and reviews.
Provides meeting support at all NASA IRB and Human Research Multinational Review Board (HRMRB) meetings in person.
Primary liaison between Research Operations and Integration, Flight Projects team, science coordinators, Life Sciences Data Archive (LSDA) and Longitudinal Surveillance of Astronaut Health (LSAH), NASA IRB, and international Partner boards, and agency data coordinators for any actions item closeouts, questions, or concerns regarding protocols or data sharing needs.
Bachelor's degree in Biological Science; related field of study considered with relevant experience.
Proficient with Microsoft Office
Able to work in a team environment distributed across multiple agencies, take direction and work independently and efficiently, and interact professionally with all levels of personnel.
Must possess highly developed organizational skills and attention to detail, and be skilled at organizing and facilitating problem-solving discussions.
Experience with NASA and/or NASA systems
Familiar with NASA Institutional Review Board (IRB), Evidence Base Working Group (EBWG), Life Sciences Data Archive (LSDA) and Longitudinal Surveillance of Astronaut Health (LSAH).
Familiar with NASA Data Management and data sharing coordination processes.
Experience working with relational databases
Knowledge of regulatory and legislative requirements related to PII and data privacy laws
Coursework or experience in epidemiology, biostatistics, bioinformatics or data science
