Job Description:

The Health Group at Leidos currently has an opening for a remote HIPAA/Privacy Security Specialist. This is an exciting opportunity to support all Security requirements for achieving and maintaining the Authority to Operate (ATO) for this software development effort.

The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and have the ability to work independently and complete tasks as part of a remote team.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Attend the Release Review Board (RRB) meetings, update the security section of the RRB checklist, and present at the RRB if required
  • Coordinate with staff and VA to gather the information required to complete and maintain a successful ATO
  • Partner with the VA to review and approve Security documentation.
  • Perform IRP, DRP/COOP, and ISCP tabletop test.
  • Serve as the POC for updating eMASS with control implementation statements, evidence, and required documentation
  • Coordinate with the VA on Nessus scan findings that are generated by the VA monthly
  • Submit and manage completion of POA&M’s for any Nessus finding that cannot be fixed within the 30/60 day timeframe.
  • Work with the VA POC to schedule PenTest and database scans.
  • Participate and provide documentation, evidence, or other information for any SCA audits that the VA requests.
  • Provide assistance to any potential or active breaches.
  • Manage the development and maintenance of privacy and security artifacts such as security education awareness and training, management plans, contingency plans, and incident response plans
  • Comply with corporate, customer, and industry standards and best practices

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience working within agile development contracts
  • Experience participating in Security Control Assessments (SCA) as part of ongoing ATO efforts
  • Experience with Risk Vision
  • In-depth understanding of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Protected Health Information (PHI), and Personally Identifiable Information (PII) compliance and protocols
  • Ability to manage cybersecurity team members on Security Incident Responses to mitigate damage, determine impact, prepare reports, and implement corrective action
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a VA Public Trust clearance
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with the remote project team, security team, customer, and other project stakeholders
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills and possess the ability to interact with the team, subcontractors, Government customers, and other stakeholders.
  • Must possess excellent organizational and analytical skills, the ability to show initiative, good judgement, and resourcefulness.
  • Willingness to accept and perform related duties and responsibilities as required, and the ability to work within a geographically diverse environment
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a VA Public Trust clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree and 4-8 years of prior relevant experience or a Master’s degree with 2-6 years of prior relevant experience.
