Job Description:

The Defense Group at Leidos currently has an opening for a Systems Administrator and Network Lead supporting VMware & Windows Servers coupled with supporting the Cisco Network, requiring a Top Secret (T5) Clearance to work in our Arlington, Virginia office. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience helping the Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR) mission. In this mission we provide on-site support to develop IT solutions to the organizations business processes and assist users with system issues. The new hire will lead a four person network administration team and oversee all aspects of network operations performance, systems administration, system integration and communications support for our USAF customer. This relates to all technology, including: workstations, servers, cloud services of all types, printers, networks, and vendor specific hardware and software. Working with the service desk team to handle ad hoc escalation requests, facilitate planned ongoing maintenance, and assist with improvements projects.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Applicants must be able to support all issues with the internal systems, network and cloud infrastructure for 250 users to include: VMware 6.7, Windows 2012/2019 Servers, Active, Directory infrastructure, Windows Deployment Services, Print Server, File Server, RSA SecureID, Cisco switches/routers, EMC SAN, SQL, Cisco ISE, Windows Azure and Windows 10 workstations. 

  • Specific duties below: 

  • Lead a four person network administration team

  • Communicate with customers as required: keeping them informed of incident progress, notifying them of impending changes, or agreed outages.

  • Provide data and reports to demonstrate operational efficiency and progress towards goals as requested.

  • Ensure all policies, procedures and practices are being followed.

  • Manage services for Microsoft related technologies: Windows Active Directory, File Server, Print Server, WDS/MDT etc.

  • Provide tier 1 & 2 support for applications/services hosted in cloud based DoD systems (Office 365 Government – DoD).

  • Manage VMware vSphere/vCenter/ESXi infrastructure; to include patching, upgrades and troubleshooting VMware related issues.

  • Support data migrations to Office 365 Government – DoD (One Drive and MS SharePoint) 

  • Support at the network level, physical and virtual: WAN/LAN connectivity, routers, and security.

  • Support for remote access solutions: VPN, Terminal Services.

  • Support backup and disaster recovery solutions.

  • Monitor service desk and remote monitoring and management system alerts and notifications; ensuring appropriate response and communication with has taken place.

  • Applicants must possess leadership and Interpersonal skill, a team first and flexible working mentality and be able to manage multiple simultaneous projects.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Excellent interpersonal working skills with both customers and team members are required. Strong communication skills, both written and oral, are also required.

  • Candidates must be US citizens and already have or be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Clearance.

  • A bachelor’s degree in a Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology with 4+ years of related work experience or a master's degree and 2+ years of related work experience, additional years of applicable work experience will be accepted in lieu of a degree. 

  • 4+ years of experience performing the duties of a Network Administrator /Systems Administrator designing enterprise system architectures and implementing solutions within hybrid technology ecosystems; including Microsoft Windows OS server, VMware and Cisco switches/routers.

  • Experience with Active ISC2 Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP) or CompTIA Cloud+ certification.

  • Active CompTIA Security +CE certificate.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years people or technical leadership or equivalent experience leading a team OR working in a team oriented collaborative environment.

  • Experienced with Microsoft Server and Active Directory roles administration.

  • Active VMware Certified Professional 6.5 or higher certificate.

  • Experienced with Cisco ISE.

  • Experienced Windows 10 Desktop support.

  • Experienced with RSA Secure ID.

  • Experienced with Dell PowerEdge FX2 Servers.

  • Experienced with DoD Vulnerability management.

Pay Range:

COVID Response
