Leidos SDA has an immediate opening for a Junior Electrical Engineer. This is an exciting opportunity to leverage your experience to develop and produce advanced security scanning and sensor systems. Emphasis is on research and development with activities ranging from support of early scientific research to transitioning products to production. The opportunity allows for independent work under the guidance of a multidisciplinary team and mentorship from our senior science and technology staff. Well-rounded candidates with a “do what needs to be done” attitude will excel in this environment.

Leidos is positioned to address emerging and evolving threats through rapid development of innovative solutions for our global customers.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Support electrical engineering activities including FPGA designs, circuit and PCB development, and system integration and testing with CAD and lab activities.
-Collaborate in scientific research, engineering product development, and test activities. Contribute to design reviews and present designs for review.
-Work independently and use judgement to perform engineering task with uncertain and evolving requirements.
-Use judgment to perform technical troubleshooting and diagnosis of failed equipment and support root cause analysis.
-Perform data analysis and write technical reports.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
-Recent Bachelor's degree in electrical engineer or computer engineer in an R&D environment or related field with a minimum 3.0 GPA.

-B.S. degree or higher in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or related field from an accredited college/university.  Masters’ degree or higher is a plus.
-Experience or coursework related to testing FPGA or CPLD designs in an electronics lab.
-Working knowledge of electronics test equipment like function generators, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and lab power supplies.
-Well-organized, reliable, attention to detail, demonstrated personal initiative. Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload. Good interpersonal skills and ability to coordinate work with others. Good oral and written communication skills.
-Experience working with cross-functional R&D development teams.
-Motivated self-starter able to work under minimal supervision and an entrepreneurial approach to roles and responsibilities.
 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
-Demonstrated leadership of small teams or projects.
-Breadth of experience in a complementary discipline like circuit design, PCB design, FPGA design, or embedded software.
-Experience reviewing and documenting technical data packages
