The Government Health and Safety Solutions Operation is seeking an Epidemiologist/Statistical Programmer in Atlanta, GA.
Fulfill the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, Immunization Services Division, Assessment Branch’s requirement for a self-motivated and detail-oriented epidemiologist to assist with monitoring vaccination coverage in the U.S.-affiliated jurisdictions for children, adolescents and adults. The AB provides scientific leadership on measurement of vaccination coverage across the lifespan by collecting, analyzing and disseminating vaccination data. This information is used to evaluate vaccination efforts for CDC and it’s partnering immunization programs. In addition, tasks will include ad hoc analyses of survey data, analyses to support programmatic activities, and preparation of research papers or reports for publication and presentation. Contract staff will assist in 1) data collection and analysis, 2) providing support to programmatic activities, and 3) preparation of research papers or reports for publication and presentation.
Primary Responsibilities
This position requires strong epidemiological, statistical, and SAS programming expertise and experience with the following:
1) Assisting CDC with conducting vaccination surveys in the U.S.-affiliated jurisdictions (the Island Surveys),
2) Assisting with and/or designing the survey sample,
3) Assisting CDC with preparing to obtain human subjects approval,
4) Assisting CDC with training the field staff,
5) Participating in data collection in the field under the direction of CDC staff,
6) Performing data editing and analysis under the direction of the CDC staff,
7) Preparing reports and articles for publication under the direction of CDC staff,
8) Experience working in the field conducting surveys, and
9) Experience supporting epidemiologic research, health surveys, evaluation, and/or surveillance studies.
Basic Qualifications
Education: BS with 2 years related experience or MS in Public Health, Informatics, Statistics, Math, or related field.
Required Skills: 1-2 years of experience as an epidemiologist using SAS, including a general knowledge regarding SAS macro programming. Experience working internationally, or working with the U. S.-affiliated jurisdictions. *Technical experience with data management, dataset creation, data analysis and report generation. * Experience using Excel, particularly the ability to output Excel tables from SAS. * Must be able to work independently, with minimal direction. * Excellent spoken and written communication skills in English.
Desired Skills: Prior experience with the analysis of influenza and public health epidemiologic data
Ability to obtain NACI clearance.
