The Intelligence Group at Leidos is currently seeking a Senior CW Analyst|/Chemist for an Intelligence Community customer. The successful candidate will provide direct, daily, on-site support to US Government professionals in the area of the analysis of chemical weapons technology and proliferation. The successful candidate will play an integral role for effective coordination of intelligence support to counter-proliferation initiatives and to policy, enforcement, licensing, military and operational agencies, as well as to provide analytic and training support on the CBW threat from emerging technologies and state programs. Candidates must have an active TS/SCI with polygraph clearance in order to be considered.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide extended and detailed technical literature searches and other in-depth open-source research and analysis in response to questions from US Government personnel and in response to intelligence reporting
- Participate in the sharing of technical data at meetings and conferences
- Perform process characterizations and multi-INT analysis for targeting support of WMD facilities and their associated processes
- Review research proposals for CBW proliferation risk as directed by the COTR.
- Provide technical and instructional design inputs to the design and implementation of an online CBW analysis class
- Co-manage one or two sessions per year of the one-week Fundamentals of Analysis of CBW Proliferation course. Organize the course content and the inputs of briefers (Leidos SMEs, US Government staff, and consultants). Compose and brief multiple course modules in area of expertise.
- The Senior Chemist can function as the program manager and perform general management and administrative functions in the place of the Program Manager
Required Qualifications
- PhD in chemistry or Master's in chemical engineering and 10-13 years overall experience
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience working in the chemical industry - organic or inorganic chemical synthesis research or production support
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience in supporting the IC
- Ability to conduct in-depth searches of the technical literature on topics of CW interest. Ability to conduct internet searches in English and multiple foreign languages
- Ability to write concise reports summarizing long- and short-term responses to long- and short-term research questions and taskings
Preferred Qualifications
- Military experience
- Basic knowledge of commercial production, manufacturing, and processes in the chemical industry
- Background using tools associated with all-source analysis, chemical process modeling, capability assessments, WMD evaluations, CW research, and algorithm development
- Familiarity with CBW-relevant nonproliferation regimes, treaties and transfer networks
- Ability to read one or more foreign languages, preferably Russian, Chinese, Farsi or Korean
- Detailed knowledge of chemical production scheme design, interpretation of process flow charts and schematics, and organic chemical synthesis technologies
- Comprehensive familiarity with multiple journal, technical conference, and patent databases, including those in non-English languages.
- Ability to communicate in a professional manner with representatives throughout the IC in person, by telephone, and through written correspondence
- Familiarity with principals of pharmacology and toxicology
- Ability to prepare and deliver concise and accurate briefs for the CBW class, country-specific task forces, and IC partners
- Experience in contract management, providing technical and financial reports, and managing multiple projects
- Ability to travel domestically and/or internationally to support the contract when asked by the COTR
