The Leidos Innovations Center has an exciting opening for you, our next Deployment Engineer, to assist with the release of a state-of-the-art technology stack supporting a developing NMEC program working in our Reston, VA office.
The DOMEX Data Discovery Platform (D3P) program is a next generation machine learning pipeline platform that provides cutting edge data enrichment, triage, and analytics capabilities to Defense and Intelligence Community members. D3P will advance the state of the art in mission-focused big data analytics tools and micro-service development spanning the breadth of Agile sprints to multiyear research and development cycles.
Our next Deployment Engineer will provide oversight, management, and execution of the entire release deployment for the D3P system in our Reston, VA office. You will work closely with the System Integration/DevOps and Operations teams as well as Systems Engineers, Software Engineers, Architects, and Operations Engineering/Manager to manage the full spectrum of release activities. Additionally, provide ongoing release and production monitoring support after each release is deployed.
You will work closely with the chief architect, systems engineers, software and data engineers, and data scientists on the following key tasks:
• Manage and oversee entire software release effort to successfully deploy software releases to include hotfixes, defect tracking, production operations status reporting
• Lead software release meetings and oversee release team execution to deliver product on schedule
• Obtain solid understanding of software features in order to plan for current and upcoming releases
• Document release rollout plans/tasks, risks and maintain schedule for release rollouts
• Hold daily release tag-ups/scrum and document minutes/actions/status
• Generate work tickets for release tasks and assign to team members
• Participate in release planning, scrum of scrums, bug triage and other pertinent meetings
• Coordinate with test team members on release/hotfix testing
• Establish release processes, perform process improvements, and document processes
• Report release status to PM staff and Customer as needed
• Assist with resolution of technical issues that adversely impact successful product delivery
• Assist with identifying and supporting external dependencies where needed
To be successful in this role you need these skills (required):
• BS in Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience with 8+ years in software development, release management, or operations management or related field, or 4 additional years in lieu of degree
• Must have an active TS security clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance
• At least 2+ years’ experience working as a Release Manager or Operations Manager for large scale systems using agile methodology
• Familiarity with continuous integration/continuous deployment tools
• Demonstrable knowledge with managing and overseeing operations and production deployment
• Demonstrable experience in documenting releases, risks and in maintaining the schedule of planned releases
• Ability to lead software release meetings and oversee release team execution to deliver product on-time
• Strong written and verbal communication skills are required to collaborate with testers, systems engineers, architects, software developers, management as well as ability to work with multiple teams to release software
• Familiarity with agile software development processes and products (release and sprint planning, product backlog management/refinement, retrospectives, etc.)
• Experience with use of tools such as Atlassian Jira and Confluence
• Ability to work well/collaborate with people from many different disciplines with varying degrees of technical experience as well as working within a team environment; Experience and ability to work in a fast paced environment
• Ability to express complex technical concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing
• Excellent project management and planning skills. Sustained track record of successfully leading technical teams
• Demonstrated ability to participate in cross-functional planning, coordination, and task execution situations involving the full spectrum of system integration activities
• Experience with big data applications
• Technical degree and/or certifications
• Scaled Agile Framework certification (SAFe Agilist or other)
• Familiarity with GitFlow development model
