The Defense Group of Leidos has an exciting opportunity for a IT Specialist Mid to support efforts for the OCONUS Enterprise Network (ONE-Net) portion of the Service Management, Integration, and Transport (SMIT) contract located in Naples, Italy.  

NGEN-R SMIT is the largest IT services program for the Navy, by delivering the OCONUS Enterprise Network (ONE-Net); inclusive of cybersecurity services, network operations, service desk, and data transport. Ultimately, Leidos will support the Navy in unifying its shore-based networks and data management to improve capability and service while also saving significant dollars by focusing efforts under one enterprise network.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Daily maintenance of existing systems, deploying OS and application updates to workstations and servers, Operating System Image development, Application Virtualization, ECM Package and Software deployments, driver management and reporting on IT assets.

  • Gather requirements for, plan, and build images for Windows workstations and servers.

  • Interface with both client managers and system users.

  • Provide remote support and/or travel to customer sites as required.

  • Utilize verbal and written communication skills to maintain accurate system documentation and provide training as required.

  • Work with supporting technologies such as Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT), Windows PowerShell, Structured Query Language (SQL), Windows Server Update Services (WSUS), and VSphere are necessary for continuing support of the enterprise environment.

  • Assist information engineers in coding, testing, implementation, and documentation projects.

  • Conceptualize, design, construct, test, and implement portions of business and technical Information Technology (IT) solutions through application of appropriate software development life cycle methodology.

  • Interact with the customer to gain an understanding of the business environment, technical context, and organizational strategic direction.

  • Define scope, plans, and deliverables for assigned projects.

  • Collect, identify, define, and organize detailed user and IT requirements.

  • Coordinate and collaborate with others in analyzing collected requirements to ensure plans and identified solutions meet customer needs and expectations.

  • Confirm and prioritize project plans and deliverables with the customer. Participate in business and technical IT solution implementations, upgrades, enhancement, and conversions. 

  • Apply metrics to monitor performance and measure key project criteria.

  • Prepare system documentation.

  • Establish and maintain security, integrity, and business continuity controls and documents.

  • Analyze, identify and resolve business and or technical problems using appropriate tools.

  • Participate in special studies and stay current on emerging tools, techniques, and technologies. 

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree and 2+ years of recent relevant experience; additional years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.

  • Experience administering Windows 2012+ servers.

  • Experience with major Microsoft technologies including PC and Server Operating Systems, Active Directory, Microsoft Deployment Toolkit , Exchange, SharePoint, SQL Server, and Office.

  • Must have DoD IAT Level II certification (CompTIA Security+) prior to start.

  • Must be TESA eligible.

  • Must have an active DoD Secret Security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Cisco Certified Network Associate Routing and Switching (CCNA Routing and Switching)

  • Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA)

  • Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS)

  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) certification

COVID Response
