Our organization is comprised of teams supporting PMO, Security, Quality, Intake, Service Delivery, Engineering, and Service Operations. With these teams access resources from our functional teams supporting Network, Security, Firewall, z/OS and z/VM operations, Unix Operations, Change Management, Monitoring, Capacity Management, x86 Operations, Storage Operations and Cloud Management. Part of everyone’s responsibility is to help drive the new consumption-based services oriented model.
Now to you – your mission, if you choose to accept it as a Data Scientist will require you to coordinate closely with leadership to help establish clear objectives and effectively communicate program needs, management program logs, interact with contract management, and establish effective, bi-directional, collaborative communication within our Program Team. Ultimately, these activities will be extended in communication to the customer. You will interact daily with technical resource which are fulfilling technical requirements for the customer. Your goal will be to work with all stakeholders to help Leidos ensure delivery of high-quality, robust and scalable solutions with minimal business impact.
The current work environment is on-site at Leidos in Winsor Mill / Woodlawn, Maryland with potential for on-site work at CMS (in the same location). Telecommute opportunities are currently being evaluated and may become available based upon teams supported, work hours, and work performance.
Experience operating Data Lakes or Data Hubs with knowledge on how to optimize storage technology for client access patterns, and how to propagate CRUD operations throughout a distributed stack (including versioning nuances). Be able to do coding with open sources like Pythons and R. Machine Learning Engineer responsibilities include:
- Designing and developing machine learning and deep learning systems and Implementing appropriate ML algorithms
- Running machine learning training and test models and experiments
- Work with the Data Science team to bring machine learning Analytics models into production including building and running Big Data processing pipelines.
Design systems with focus on Architecture, Analytics, AI/ML and Automation for the improved performance, throughput of the new/existing systems. Write test automation, conduct code reviews, and take end-to-end ownership of deployments to production. Discover and innovate the right blend of proven technologies to solve performant, scalable, durable, continuously available, secure solutions Architect system solutions leveraging your experience with cloud technologies as well as internal data centers. Perform prototyping and proof of concepts for potential new technical solutions with Engineering, Service Desk and Security Create the BI Analytics related reports and dashboards Be able to use Agile methodology on multiple projects. Be an expert Analysis for Alternatives (AoA) on multiple systems/products/services to provide the most advanced and robust solution to our customers. Take ownership and be self-motivated with hands-on work to lead and drive quality, and innovative products/solutions
- Define engineering best practices and provide technical mentorship.
- Investigate and resolve any production issues from end user (UI) to persistence layer and work to prevent them.
- Work with project managers to ensure that all project deliverables are on time and high quality.

BS degree and 8 – 12 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6 – 10 years of prior relevant experience. Experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
