The Military & Veterans Health Solutions Operation Business Unit is seeking a Psychological Health Provider (Psychiatry, Psychology, Clinical Social Work or Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner) with a strong policy background at the Military Medicine headquarters level and experience with psychological health program maintenance. This position is eligible to work remote 1x week.
Job Purpose: seeking a full-time Psychological Health Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support a contract with the Naval Center for Combat & Operational Stress Control (NCCOSC), within the Mental Health Directorate of the Navy Bureau of Medicine and Surgery (BUMED) in Falls Church, VA. NCCOSC optimizes force psychological readiness through development, aggregation, analysis, and dissemination of best practices and innovations in primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention of psychological illness and injury.
Please note: this is a non-clinical position. It does not provide any clinical care to include individual or group therapy, though clinical knowledge and skills are critical components of the position.
Position Requirements/Duties:
Prefer headquarters level policy experience. The candidate shall work as a team member consulting with military healthcare systems to help develop and implement systemic process improvement changes. The individual will act as a liaison and consultant for psychological health related product development and with leaders and caregivers. In addition, the incumbent will support the coordination of psychological readiness related initiatives and assist in the standardization of psychological health services.
This will include:
Provide support for BUMED mental health programs and initiatives, spanning readiness, general mental health, substance misuse, suicide, mental health surveillance, and traumatic brain injury
Support mental health policy and training development
Development of high-level briefs, white papers, requests for information pertaining to Navy mental health
Support general project/program management for BUMED mental health, in terms of completion of taskers, tracking of information and reporting, etc.
Required Education/Skills:
Doctoral degree in a mental health specialty (psychiatry, psychology, clinical social work, psychiatric mental health nursing) preferred. Minimum of a Master’s degree in mental health and at least five years of associated experience.
Applicant shall demonstrate ability to provide consultation as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in field of experience.
Applicant should be able to function at multiple levels within large systems.
The individual must have knowledge and experience working with the DoD and a clinical expertise in military psychological health and mental health conditions common to military personnel (i.e. PTSD, depression, and substance misuse).
Must have knowledge pertinent to operational medicine and military readiness.
Applicant should have significant ability to multitask and prioritize, and assist in project management responsibilities.
Desired Skills/Experience:
Experience working in the field of combat stress, psychological health, and/or experience working with active duty or reserve members.
Research experience preferred.
Project Management experience preferred. Candidate should be proficient with Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint, oral presentations, writing and collaboration skills.
Military experience or work in the military health care field. Familiarity with Department of Defense (DoD) and Military Health System (MHS) organization and structure is desired.
Also, be familiar with Department of the Navy (DON) tracker.
Additional Requirements:
Due to federal contract regulations, US Citizenship is required. Candidates MUST be able to pass a government background investigation
