Leidos Inc., has an exciting opportunity for a Cost Estimation Engineer The Cost Estimation Engineer will work under the supervision of Senior Staff providing cost estimation support for environmental assessment, remediation, and monitoring at sites impacted by chlorinated solvents, explosives, petroleum or other contaminants.
A valid driver’s license is required. Must be able to travel domestically up to 25% of the time. Must be able to obtain access to, and conduct work on, U.S. Government installations. U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent Resident status is required.
When not traveling, work may be performed at one of the following Leidos office locations: Oak Ridge, Tennessee; Reston, Virginia; Twinsburg, Ohio. Remote work will also be considered.
Primary Responsibilities:
The cost estimation engineer will support remedial investigation and feasibility study projects including remediation system design and construction, remediation system optimization, remediation system maintenance and operation, and well installation/abandonment.
Office support includes developing basis of estimates for various work scopes, plans and specifications, permitting, writing reports, work plans, and other project and client documents.
Field support includes site visits/studies, groundwater and remediation system monitoring, drilling and soil sampling, and subcontractor supervision. Responsibilities include evaluation of engineering, hydro-geological, and chemical data to identify contaminant trends or patterns based on analysis, summarize findings and conclusions of the data analysis and make recommendations to the Project Manager.
The candidate will support the development of CERCLA RI/FS planning and reporting documents. Additional duties include coordinating technical documents through various stages of document generation and production, and communicating effectively with the document team plus completing the document within the designated schedule.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (civil, chemical, environmental, mechanical, geotechnical, or related field) and at least 5 years' experience in the environmental engineering field including relevant cost estimating experience
- Cost Estimating certification such as Certified Cost Estimator/Analyst (CCEA), Certified Cost Professional (CCP), Cost Estimating Professional (CEP), Certified Professional Estimator (CPE), or equivalent certification is required.
- Ability to work independently, adapt to a changing work environment, have good problem solving skills, solid communication skills, and strong self-initiative. Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Products including Microsoft Project is required.
- Must have, or be able to obtain shortly after hire, OSHA 1910.120 hazardous waste worker certification (e.g., ability to perform fieldwork at hazardous waste sites).
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with knowledge and cost estimation of remediation technologies and remediation systems. Proficiency in field documentation, technical report writing, and analysis skills. Prior fieldwork experience a plus.
Pay Range:
Pay Range $65,000.00 - $100,000.00 - $135,000.00#Remote
