Job Description:
The Defense Health Operation of Leidos is currently looking for a Publication Manager for the Operations Department at the Naval Submarine Medical Research Laboratory (NSMRL) in Groton, CT. NSMRL conducts research and investigates the effects of medical, psychological, and performance issues associated with the health and performance of naval personnel in operational and non-operational settings.
Primary Responsibilities
The ideal candidate shall:
Provide technical and scientific writing and expertise for various projects or studies with technical or progress reports, papers, research protocols, presentations, or posters, subject to final government approval.
Review research protocols, analyses, and briefing packages.
Edit and format technical or progress reports, papers, research protocols, presentations, or posters.
Create data displays for insertion in research products.
Serve as Media Communications Lead by developing media communications plans and managing content for NSMRL’s social media presence, subject to final government approval.
Identify newsworthy content and prepare external communications (e.g., news releases).
Prepare, review, and disseminate various internal communications as requested/directed.
Ensure that communications meet Navy technical reporting guidelines, the format of journals, the format of proposal solicitations, etc., subject to final active duty or GS approval.
Ensure communications are in good style, without typos, spelling errors, grammatical errors, etc.
Track the routing process for all research products.
Prepare and brief to NSMRL leadership on status of NSMRL’s public affairs efforts and publications.
Prepare and disseminate informational and training documents to the command.
Review and draft reports and presentations detailing results and the appropriate inferences to be drawn from results, as well as to provide updates and briefs to the program sponsors, subject to final active duty or GS approval.
Conduct literature searches and prepare bibliographies.
Assist with other administrative aspects necessary to the generation of proposals, protocols, presentations, papers, patents, military standards, user articles, lay articles, and related knowledge products.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a science field with 3-5 years of experience or Master’s degree in a science field with 1-2 years of experience.
Ability to acquire, at a minimum, a SECRET classification access level. Preference will be given to a candidate who already has this clearance level.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a research setting;
Experience in the US federal government system.
