Substation Electrical Engineer Supervisor - Honolulu, HI
Leidos is seeking a highly motivated, customer-oriented Substation Electrical Engineer Supervisor to be located in our Honolulu, HI location.

The successful candidate will act as lead engineer, and depending on experience and capability, as project manager on planning and design of electric substation projects. The position will require interfacing directly with the client’s Substation Engineering and Operations departments, include supervising and directing design engineers and drafting/designer staff in the execution of projects, as well as performing design quality reviews. Additionally, the candidate may also be responsible for Substation-related business development and client management.
Substation Electrical Engineer Supervisor Primary Responsibilities
The successful candidate will apply a diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices as applied to substation engineering and operation in the electric utility industry. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Focus on the needs of external client goals and expectations
Prepare proposals, including project scope, budget and schedule
Manage performance of work, monitoring effort in accordance with the budget and schedule milestones
Direct the preparation of permit and construction drawings, design calculations, reports, equipment and construction specifications, procurement documents and studies
Support construction and substation & equipment commissioning
Ensure use of standard engineering methods and practices in performing work
Ensure compliance with Leidos’ quality management program
Supervise and be a resource and mentor to engineering staff
Substation Electrical Engineer Supervisor General Scope of Assignments
Perform design of substation improvements in accordance with industry best management practice, and client standards, procedures, and policies, including but not limited to installations, replacements, relocations, maintenance, services, system upgrades and expansions
Conduct field inspections to review the physical condition of substation sites and make engineering recommendations for the replacement and/or enhancement of facilities
Work collaboratively with client engineering, operations and other departments to ensure work products and services meet expectations and commitments
Prepare project cost estimates considering design, materials and construction, as well as outside resources
Prepare project schedules
Prepare design progress submittals and construction drawings for issue to client crews and/or third-party contractors
Support client crews and/or third-party contractors during construction by promptly responding to RFI
Substation Electrical Engineer Supervisor Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program with 4 to 8 years of prior relevant experience or a Masters with 2 to 6 years of prior relevant experience
Licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Hawaii or reciprocity from another State
Previous consulting experience preferred
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record; travel required as needed for projects
Familiarity with substation equipment, design, construction and operation
Ability to apply company and client standards and applicable industry codes and regulations
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent verbal and written communication, and interpersonal skills
Proven ability to communicate with clients, project teams and direct reports
