Leidos is hiring a Network Engineer (LAN). All work will be performed onsite at the National Maritime Intelligence Center in Suitland, MD.


The purpose of this effort is for the contractor to function as a network administrator (~approx consisting of 50 CISCO switches per network) to design, operate, maintain, secure, and document to two operational and one developmental enterprise network within the National Maritime Intelligence Center (NMIC) located in Suitland, MD. The contractor will be responsible for the network administration and requirements based solution development. The contractor will isolate and resolve simple and complex network problems within the enterprise. Network administration will also include the design, installation, operation, application of security policies, vulnerability analysis and remediation, and the documentation of current physical and logical topographies and any future changes.

The Network Operations Division (ISC-N31) is responsible for providing network administration and engineering related support for elements within the National Maritime Intelligence Center (NMIC) and locations around the world. This ranges from providing simple patching actions between network components to configuring hardware and security solutions to performing network administration functions. The responsibilities of the technician(s) assigned to ISC-N31 are primarily at the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) Layers one through four however knowledge of systems/applications working at the higher layers is imperative to the continued success of the ISC-N31 and its various supported customers.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Perform any physical patching and software (CISCO IOS) patching as required.

  • Review Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts/Bulletins (IAVA/B) related to CISCO products and develop and implement remediation plans.

  • Coordinate outages with functional customers and team lead.

  • Develop/draft any Service Level Agreements and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for routine and non-routine procedures that assist in the management of the enterprise networks.

  • Perform any required re-accreditation actions such as DISA STIG review, IOS upgrades, vulnerability scan remediation, and document various required lists (PPSM, H/W, and S/W) during the network’s accreditation cycle   Assist in the development of technical refresh plan.

  • Act as an action officer on various new projects as assigned.


Required Experience, Skills, and Education:

  • BS and 7 or more years networking administration. Additional years of experience will be considered in lieu of degree.

  • 7 or more years experience with Microsoft and Unix environments and Remedy ® incident management tool.

  • Expert level ability in: MS VISIO, Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP), Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP), Open Shortest Path First (OSPF), Spanning Tree, Address Resolution Protocol (ARP), dot1Q, Virtual LANs (VLANs), VPN, Generic Routing  Encapsulation (GRE), subnetting, Network Address Translation (NAT), Netflow,  and various other routing and networking protocols.

  • Expert level experience with data packet capture, traffic analysis, and vulnerability analysis & remediation.             

  • CISCO Certified Network Professional (CCNP).

  • CISCO-Voice.

  • Network+. 

  • CISSP or CASP.
