The responsibilities of the Graphic Design Intern will be to work hand in hand with the (ASC) Communications Team to create content, consisting of primarily static graphics for both online, print publication, and presentations, highlighting the work and scientific research performed in the Antarctic. Graphics could be used in support of the Antarctic Sun online newspaper, program publications and high level customer presentations highlighting Science activities and project work. They will bring design knowledge to the development of the ASC style guide. You will be invited to attend our Communications Team meetings once a week to discuss communication strategies, assignments, and other Antarctic Support Contract (ASC) products and platforms products.
The Graphics Design Intern will use their design knowledge and ability to develop graphics to visually communicate sometimes complex scientific projects and operations projects to a broad audience as needed by internal teams and the client. They will gain broad experience and be prepared to enter any fast-paced work environment and be expected to learn the ins and outs of our daily routines and procedures. The right candidate will offer the team a fresh perspective, energy, and new skills. Some examples of work will be to work with a diverse group of stakeholders to gather information and concepts and distill into easy to understand and graphics, support to publication development in Adobe InDesign, graphic development to departments incorporating data for customer reports, and engagement with the Antarctic Sun Editor to develop graphics about research in the Antarctic.
You will work closely with our current design, communications team to gain valuable knowledge of the ASC mission supporting the National Science Foundation.
Create user stories for development.
Keep abreast of competitor products and industry trends.
Candidates must be enrolled in a design-focused undergraduate or graduate design degree program from an accredited University or College; or equivalent experience and less than 2 years prior relevant experience.
Must have a 2.8 cumulative GPA.

Design ASC products and collaterals and digital products for social media

Pay Range:Pay Range $38,400.00 - $52,000.00 - $65,600.00
