The Leidos Defense Group currently has an opening for a Firewall Engineer located at Fort Belvoir, VA supporting DTRA.
The Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) enables the Department of Defense (DoD), U.S. Government, and International Partners to counter and deter Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) and Emerging Threats. DTRA’s workforce is an integrated mix of personnel from government, military, and industry, blending a variety of skillsets at the individual and organizational levels to provide tailored and agile solutions to Detect, Deter, and Defeat WMD and Emerging Threats.
Design, implement, and document firewall rules and policies in compliance with the organization's security posture and configuration change management policies.
Maintains and updates security policies that integrates Next Generation Firewall (NGFW) principles such as application awareness and SSL decryption.
Evaluates impact of current and future planned firewall changes to identify and mitigate network problems quickly. If needed, escalates issues to vendor support by opening TAC cases and working directly with support engineers.
Performs recurring maintenance and software upgrades to maintain a healthy operational status and reduce or remove published vulnerabilities.
Integrates and works as part of the larger network team to maintain the highest level of network availability possible.
Requires BS and 4+ years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 2+ years of prior relevant experience, additional years of applicable experience will be accepted in lieu of a degree.
Experience with Palo Alto Firewalls and GlobalProtect VPN.
Top Secret Clearance required.
DOD 8570 IAT Level II or higher certification required.
