Job Description:
The Military and Veterans Health Services Operation at Leidos has a need for a full-time proposal writer to support military health research proposal development.
Individuals selected for this position will perform a variety of duties associated with proposal writing to include organizing and writing proposal sections, identifying and filling gaps by working with technical and program management staff, engaging in the review and recovery process, editing, proofreading and finalizing proposal content for submission. Specifically, work efforts include writing, editing, proofreading and providing proposal support on non-technical and/or technical documents or sections of documents. Duties include ensuring documents meet editorial and government specifications and adhering to standards for quality, graphics, coverage, format and style.
Primary Responsibilities
Proposal Writing
Assume primary writing responsibility for a section or sections of proposals, to include following a requirements driven outline (RDO), gathering relevant technical information, coordinating with stakeholders or other experts to ensure a comprehensive proposal response, developing draft and final copies of proposal section(s), ensuring that documents meet editorial and government/proposal specifications and adhering to standards for quality, graphics, coverage, format and style.
Actively participate in the proposal review and recovery process as well as post-edit recovery and final content review. May also participate in the development of the RDO.
Writing
Work collaboratively with the Military and Veterans Health Operation leadership to assume responsibility for a section or sections of military health research proposals engaging through the entire proposal writing process until proposal submission.
Influences development of proposal solutions that impact strategic project/program goals and business results.
Provides measurable input to proposal solutions, processes or standards in order to achieve functional/project objectives.
Has expert knowledge of industry writing practices, advanced techniques and solutions within a professional discipline to develop new standards, processes, and solutions.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelors degree or equivalent experience and 12 – 15 years of prior relevant experience or Master’s Degree with 10 – 13 years of prior relevant experience.
Familiarity with military, health research, medical, government, and U.S. and foreign militaries terminology.
Experience and proficiency with Windows-based computer systems such Microsoft Office.
Experience with the military or consulting in a DoD environment preferred.
Strong skills to critically review, independently edit, format and synthesize various types of input (verbal, notes, emails, drafts) into a cohesive document or correspondence in accordance with proposal requirements and other format policies.
Ability to work both independently and as a valuable team member and communicate verbally and in writing with program managers and technical staff regarding matters of significant importance to the organization/project.

Pay Range $90,350.00 - $139,000.00 - $187,650.00#Remote
