We are in search for a Telecom Technician (Level 2) to work at our customer site at the National Maritime Intelligence Center, Suitland, MD. his is an exciting opportunity to use your experience to maintain and administer (Telephone) support for the Hardware Division requirements for the HOPPER Information Services Center (ISC) and to operate, maintain, secure, integrate, enhance, and optimize telephone, hardware and asset management capabilities within the National Maritime Intelligence and Pentagon Center, as well as National Capital Regional Areas locations. Work will include service maintenance requirements relating to the Nortel 81C PBX switch and Callpilot systems that supports the Office of Naval Intelligence at the Washington DC facility. In this role, you will augment and support the Hardware Operations Division (ISC-N34) mission requirements for the HOPPER Information Services Center (ISC) comprised of the following two Information Technology hardware task types: installation and break/fix; relocation; repair and disposal and Asset/Property management support. The technical support requirements include but are not limited to Subject Matter Expert (SME) technical support in the areas of computer installation and break/fix, relocation, repair, and inventory control/property management. This work is performed primarily at the NMIC in Suitland, and the Pentagon, as well as several other facilities in the National Capital Region.

THE MISSION
The HOPPER mission is to provide information technology services to fully enable the Office of Naval Intelligence and the Navy to meet mission requirements. The ISC Operations (ISC-O) Department is an integrated workforce of civilians, active duty and Reserve Naval professionals who support combat operations and provide vital information for planning America’s defense against maritime threats at home and around the world. ISC-N3 Operations provides Enterprise Operations support to the ONI customer community at the National Maritime Intelligence Center facility, to Department of Navy Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities in the National Capital Region, and Contiguous United States, and to shore SCIF’s supporting commands subordinate to United States Fleet Forces around the world, all on a 24/7 basis.

THE CHALLENGE (primary responsibilities)
•Provide in-depth analysis of trouble conditions and facilitate repair efforts.
•Work independently or coordinate a team of technicians as necessary.
•Monitor vendors’ installation of equipment, and perform/coordinate system testing and evaluation activities.
•Inspect and review hardware installation, wiring, power, grounding, system database validation, and other activities to ensure quality installation of services for the client.
•May perform adjunct installation, de-installation, and relocation activities including, but not limited to, site preparation and installation and/or removal of cabling and wiring systems, terminal equipment, automated data processing services and associated hardware and software.
•Install and/or maintain LAN/WAN equipment or networks of LANs/WANs.
•Communicate effectively in writing and verbally with all levels of technical, engineering, and management personnel, as required.
•Perform in the area of network testing, analysis, and optimization.
•Apply transmission-engineering principles to existing network to ensure receipt of quality voice and data
telecommunications services.
•Program voicemail box for user’s Update Callpilot, Nortel / Avaya Option 81C phone database
•Perform follow-up communications to ensure all new installs and MAC (moves adds changes) orders are working as requested, build Callpilot mailboxes (voice mailboxes) Holiday menu and issue temporary passwords for users.
•Install, MAC (moves adds changes) DoDIIS and UVoIP phone orders as requested.
•Perform site surveys prior to installs, provide user training on telephone instruments, voice mail, and issue
written instruction.
•Disconnect and collect-unused equipment, remove inactive telephone lines and document changes, troubleshoot telephone equipment hardware, software, run cross connects for stations and lines and any related telephonic equipment.
•Perform system maintenance on the Nortel / Avaya Option 81C semi-annually, report finding and provide a documented maintenance checklist on the entire Telephony system to include battery stress test and rectifier’s performance.
WHAT SETS YOU APART (minimum job qualifications)
•A High School Degree or equivalent with a minimum of 3 years of related work experience
•3+ years of comprehensive experience with Nortel and Cisco CUCM
•Must be comfortable in high visibility and customer facing environments
•Experience configuring Nortel/Avaya and Cisco VOIPs phones, OJT accepted for VoIP technician
•Experience with basic networking and Bix cable termination skills
•Experience with classified and unclassified Networks
•Strong Communication Skills
•A current Security + Certification
•A current Nortel/Avaya Certification
•Up to 10% travel may be required
Security Clearance Requirement
•Must have a DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance
