We are in search of a Windows System/VMWare Engineer (Level 3) to work at our customer site located at the National Maritime Intelligence Center in Suitland, MD. This work will be done in conjunction with Hopper ISC established requirement priorities and authorizations. ISC N32 provides Enterprise Operations support to the Intelligence Community (IC) at the National Maritime Intelligence Center (NMIC) facility, to Department of Navy Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIF) in the National Capital Region (NCR) and Contiguous United States (CONUS), and to shore SCIFs supporting commands subordinate to United States Fleet Forces (USFF) around the world.

THE MISSION
The purpose of this effort is for the Windows Server, Desktop Management, Enterprise Application and SQL Database Support Order, which will be contracted to support the Hopper Information Services Center (ISC) Information Technology (IT) Operations Department (ISC N3), systems Division (ISC N32) for the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI). In this role, you will provide support for Hopper's infrastructure. Management of all systems shall encompass all virtual machine operations and maintenance, configuration management, installations, performance and capacity planning.

THE CHALLENGE (primary responsibilities)
•Implement, upgrade/migrate, and maintain VMware hypervisor infrastructure.
•Provide technical hands-on support for the VMware platform.
•Handles standard VMware engineer duties and recommends, innovative and automated approaches wherever possible for infrastructure tasks.
•Work with stakeholders and customers to understand ESXi host utilization, lifecycle, protection requirements and develop effective workable solutions and processes.
•Lead the triage and resolution of escalated, complex incidents, problems, or capacity concerns.
•Responsible for maintaining daily operations, monitoring, problem identification/resolution of VMWare server/systems, applications, and analyzing activity and performance ensuring system/application is providing optimum performance and availability.
•Provide system administration support in terms of installing, configuring, maintaining security, installing patches
•Identify, troubleshoot and resolve system and application related incidents detected during monitoring
•Create and maintain security documentation for VMWare servers, applications, and VMware infrastructure ensuring all systems maintain compliant to current security policies.
•Monitor performance and make modifications and adjustments to VMWare architecture, storage methods and management system software to fine tune the system for optimum response time and throughput.
•Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required
•Work across IT functional boundaries (other system administrators, SAN administrators, Network administrators, Database administrators, etc.) with configuration, installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, upgrade and system management for optimum performance and reliability.
•Ensure all system configuration changes have been approved via the Hopper CMR process and documented prior to implementation
•Research, document and recommend new system related technologies and as well as migration and upgrade paths that could enhance, improve, automate and provide more efficiency and or up-to-date technologies to the operational environment.
WHAT SETS YOU APART (minimum job qualifications)
•A Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 8 years of related work experience; additional years of experience may be allowed in lieu of a degree
•7 years experience with VMWare in a Windows environment
•Expert knowledge with VM Ware 6.5 or higher
•Extensive hands-on experience in designing & managing VMware infrastructure
•Proficient experience with SAN storage
•A current Security+ Certification
•Current VMWare Certification
Security Clearance Requirement
A current DoD Top Secret/SCI

Pay Range $81,900.00 - $126,000.00 - $170,100.00#Featuredjob
