The National Airspace Systems Integration Support (NISC) program at Leidos is seeking an Environmental Engineer to work out of our Fort Worth, Texas location. This professional will provide support to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Central Service Area (CSA) Environmental Occupational Safety and Health (EOSH) Technical Support Center.
The Environmental Engineer will provide assistance with management and implementation of national EOSH policy, support and compliance with a wide array of Federal laws and regulations in the FAA Service Area, legacy Regional, and subordinate facilities. Monitor and review operations and proposed construction projects to assure compliance with published environmental criteria. Provide estimates for the demolition of damaged structures and clean-up of any hazardous areas. Provide support for FAA environmental programs including, but not limited to Environmental Cleanup, Environmental Compliance, Drinking Water, and Fuel Storage Tanks.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinating with government customers on a routine basis to recommend environmental compliance
- Providing oversight and guidance on a wide array of environmental compliance issues
- Gain familiarity with the FAA’s Environmental Cleanup (ECU) Program including the different phases of cleanup activities.
- Support audits and reviews of FAA Districts and District facilities to determine status of environmental programs and assist those organizations with addressing deficiencies.
- Support of the FAA Environmental Cleanup program including coordinating and scheduling site surveys and cleanup activities. Other duties include maintaining knowledge of current and changing federal and state regulations regarding environmental site remediation requirements including those which enacted to implement the requirements of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) and the Comprehensive Environmental (CERCLA).
- Support of the FAA’s Triennial Drinking Water Sampling and Analysis program including scheduling sampling activities, identification of sources to be sampled, review of laboratory credentials, serve as a repository for all sampling results, review and assimilation of data, and preparation and dissemination of final reports.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for the FAA Fuel Storage Tank program including the Lifecycle Management FST replacement program, review of plans and specifications for new and replacement FST installation projects, review of existing Spill Prevention and Countermeasure Plans, provide assistance in the preparation of new SPCC plans, and provide guidance as needed regarding compliance with FAA and state regulations regarding both above ground and underground fuel storage tanks
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master of Science degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering with 6 to 10 years relevant or Bachelor of Science degree with 8 to 12 years of experience in Environmental Health and Safety
- Knowledge of government test procedures
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of tools
