The Aviation Integration, Maintenance, Sustainment and Safety (AIMSS) Branch of Leidos has an opening for an Electrical Engineer in Manassas, VA. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience in the areas of electrical design, development, and fielding of innovative solutions for airborne ISR platforms.
The Electrical Engineer develops, analyzes and designs electrical power distribution, wiring and interfaces for mission systems while serving as a resource to the integrated team of aviation professionals.
Primary Responsibilities
Performs electrical designs ranging from power distribution to avionics, to mission systems, including development of block diagrams, schematics, and cable assembly drawings
Develops electrical load analyses (ELA) for determining the impact of mission system additions to the existing OEM electrical power system loads and capacity
Maintains open dialogue and coordination between electrical/avionics shops, integrators, and various engineering disciplines, including tracking of the fabrication progress
Provides integration and design support for mission equipment including the following subsystems:
Crew Intercommunications
VHF/UHF Line-of-Sight Radios
SATCOM and Datalinks
LINK 16
TACAN
IFF
Radar
SAASM GPS
SIGINT
COMINT
ASE
FMS
Supports Technical Review Board (TRB), Change Control Board (CCB), System Readiness Review (SRR), Preliminary Design Review (PDR) and Critical Design Review (CDR) meetings
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology or related field
Minimum of four (4) years of related experience. Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree
Excellent communications skills for interaction with customers, vendors and peers
Proficient knowledge of computer systems, applications and current CAD packages
Working knowledge of FAA FARs and ACs
Experience and solid foundation of configuration management (CM) practices
Eligibility for obtaining minimum of Secret clearance
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with various non-electrical aircraft subsystems
Love of aerospace technology
Knowledge of DO-160, TEMPEST, lightning, EMI/EMC requirements and testing
Military avionics experience including, aviation wiring, electronic principles, fault isolation
Knowledge of RF, link budget and antenna technologies
Knowledge of IP and voice encryption systems
Active Secret clearance
