Project Controls Specialist

We are currently seeking qualified applicants to provide Project Control services related to transmission line, substation and distribution line construction projects within our client facilities throughout the southeast.

As a Project Controls Specialist within Leidos’ Power Delivery Services organization, you will work alongside project managers, construction managers and lead engineers for various clients supported by the Power Delivery Services (PDS) division, supporting Transmission & Distribution electric utility projects. The position will be client facing and responsible for creating, maintaining and driving resource and cost loaded schedules using Primavera P6 Scheduling Software.

Project Controls Specialist Responsibilities

  • Develop and monitor project metrics, develop dashboards and reports

  • Assist with project/program schedule monitoring and budget status communication to project/program management teams and senior management

  • Track and examine the project costs including budgets, commitments, actuals, accruals, and forecasts

  • Perform the analysis, review, and forecast, on project cost performance, including the status of committed costs against approved budgets

  • Attend project management meetings and provide input related to project costs, commitments, and forecasts, as required

  • Prepare written, tabular, and graphic reports that communicate project cost status periodically and as required

  • Monitor and report cash flow analysis and revenue generation points

  • Work with scheduling staff to develop, manage, revise, and update integrated detailed project schedules including all phases of project execution

  • Provide input for proposals and RFPs

  • Participate in review of proposals, RFPs and bids

To be considered for the following levels:

  • Base Level: Bachelor’s degree in the following disciplines: Engineering, Construction Management, Business or Finance required with a minimum of two (2) + years of relevant Project Controls experience

  • Mid Level: Bachelor’s degree in the following disciplines: Engineering, Construction Management, Business or Finance required with a minimum of four (4) + years of relevant Project Controls experience

  • Senior Level: Bachelor’s degree in the following disciplines: Engineering, Construction Management, Business or Finance required with a minimum of eight (8) + years of relevant Project Controls experience

  • SME Level: Bachelor’s degree in the following disciplines: Engineering, Construction Management, Business or Finance required with a minimum of eight (12) + years of relevant Project Controls experience

Project Controls Specialist Requirements

  • Knowledge of Primavera software

  • Extensive knowledge of MS Excel

  • Proven ability to support project managers and senior management with the use and maintenance of project controls systems and outputs

  • Experience with Project Controls/ Project Management processes, as applied on engineering and construction projects, including but not limited to risk management, financial management, work breakdown structures, change management, cost estimating, configuration management and procurement

  • Project Controls/Project Management certification(s) are desired

  • Experience in large capital construction projects desired

  • Experience with document management software desired

  • Ability to prioritize competing demands for your time in a fast-paced environment

  • PMP certificate preferred
