The Leidos Office of Technology (OOT) has openings for Operations Research Analyst (ORSA). Location: Preference is for position to be based in Reston VA location, but other locations are negotiable.
Position Summary:
Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the Operational Effectiveness Modeling & Simulation Center of Excellence (OE M&S CoE).
We are looking for an experienced operations research/mission analyst with background in utilizing M&S to perform operational effectiveness analyses to be a part of a team to guide the use of M&S across the company. You will be on the forefront of maturing M&S capability, processes, tools, procedures, and analysis techniques in support of the Leidos enterprise. The CoE team will advise, and train the Leidos Line organizations and enterprise on the use of OR analysis methodologies, techniques, and M&S capabilities to:
•Define and characterize the military and intelligence utility and mission benefit of Leidos capability and technical discriminators, using metrics used and appreciated by Leidos military and intelligence community Customers
•Support the demonstration of the differentiated value of Leidos capabilities and technology – by demonstrating how our solutions provide improved military and intelligence utility and mission benefit over that provided by other solutions
•Support Customer marketing and requirements shaping activities
Primary Responsibilities:
The SME will facilitate, advise, and train all Leidos business areas that use and derive benefit from OR analysis and M&S capability, such as:
•Technical solutioning and system trade studies
•Digital Engineering and Model-Based System Engineering
•Operational effectiveness analysis at the engagement, mission, and campaign levels - and how this level of ORSA and M&S capability is built upon basic physics, systems, and sub-system M&S capability
•Manufacturing and production
•Mission planning
•Training and trainer capability
•Logistics, maintenance, and sustainment
The CoE team will define and maintain a set of standard OR analysis and M&S playbooks, templates,
processes, tools, and procedures - to include lessons-learned and best practices with proper feedback
mechanisms.
Required Qualifications:
•Master’s degree or Ph.D. and 15+ years in a relevant ORSA or related STEM field,
•8 – 12 years of related operations analysis and M&S experience, including:
oExperience performing OR assessments across a product lifecycle that utilize all levels of the standard Department of Defense M&S Pyramid: Physics and Phenomenology, Systems Engineering, Engagement, Mission, and Campaign M&S Levels
•Ability to work with Customers and Leidos teams to discern key customer requirements and "hot buttons", and translate how to best demonstrate the military utility and operational benefit of Leidos solutions
•Working knowledge of ORSA concepts, analytic techniques, and methodologies such as mathematical modeling, statistical analysis, mathematical optimization, simulation, stochastic-process models, decision analysis, and economic models
•Strong oral and written communication skills, along with excellent public speaking skills. You will be working with senior management to influence and persuade others, as well as handle difficult negotiations
•Security Clearance: Active TS/SCI
•Travel: 25%
Preferred Experience and Skills:
•Experience working for or at one of the military analysis centers: N81; USAF Studies, Analysis and Assessments; Center for Army Analysis, etc. - and their standard and "trusted" models (e.g. AFSIM, STORM, etc.)
•Experience developing models and simulations with a modern programing language e.g. C/C++, Java,
•Experience in writing Python scripts
Pay Range:
Pay Range $142,350.00 - $219,000.00 - $295,650.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
