The Airborne Solutions Division, within the Defense Group, has a dynamic opportunity for a Cyber Security Engineer for the Sustainment Contract Operations and Logistics (SCOL) program specifically supporting the Airborne Reconnaissance Low – Enhanced (ARL-E) platform development located in Aberdeen (APG), MD. SCOL is a multi-year program supporting the U.S. Army with maintaining, upgrading and enhancing the Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities of their airborne reconnaissance fleet; this program is geographically separated with primary duty locations of Manassas, VA and Aberdeen, MD.
As the selected Cyber Security Engineer, you will serve as a member of the Engineering Team that will support a full spectrum of division activities specifically focused on cyber security related to mission systems operations within, or in support of, aircraft platforms. You will inject into each stage of the Systems Engineering Lifecycle to include but not limited too: Requirement’s analysis, system design, system integration, functional testing, and all associated accreditation activities related to the Risk Management Framework Accreditation efforts in eMASS and XACTA.
Primary Responsibilities
Utilizing compliance and vulnerability security scan tools (e.g. ACAS, SCC), Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), CS2 and NIST RMF workflows and processes
Generate and analyze security scan tool reports to brief customer on the results of these scans.
Develop Risk Management Framework body of evidence and manage accreditation packages in eMASS and XACTA
Develop technical and written solutions to cyber security vulnerabilities (e.g. AD Group Policy, Local Security Policy, Windows/Unix scripts, documented mitigations)
Develop technical and programmatic assessments, evaluate engineering and integration initiatives and provide technical support to assess security policies, standards and guidelines.
Support engineers of other disciplines in the security posture of products
Assist Information Security Systems Manager (ISSM) in the development and maintenance of multiple accreditation packages
Contribute to IATT/ATO (Interim Authority To Test/Authority to Operate)
Assist with other IA compliance activities as directed by supervisor
Travel up 50% of the time to customer and testing sites during the first 12 – 18 months, then 25% after that
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering or related discipline and eight (8) years of related work experience. Additional years of experience may be used in lieu of degree
A current DoD Top Secret required to start with ability to obtain SCI
A DoD 8570 certification of IAT Level II or higher or IAM Level I or higher is required: Security+ CE, CISSP, CISM
Strong background in cyber security engineering/analysis or related information technology field to include the ability to integrate, troubleshoot, and test hardware and software
Previous information technology experience
Experience in compliance and vulnerability scanning tools (e.g. ACAS, SCC, Nessus)
Knowledgeable developing and integrating Active Directory Group Policy, Local Security Policy, and Windows scripts
Experience with virtualization architectures (VMWare, Citrix, Hyper-V)
Knowledgeable with NIST RMF SP 800-53
Proficient with MS Office products to include Visio
Proficient written and verbal communication skills
Expert interpersonal skills when working as part of a team and capable of working independently when required
A minimum of 25% travel and up to 50% may be required to support activities at each of the primary duty locations as well as CONUS operational sites.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in virtualized environments, multi-level security solutions, and cross domain solutions.
