An individual in this position will work as a Communications RF On-Board Networks Utilization Specialist (CRONUS) flight controller and serve as a technical expert for the International Space Station (ISS) Command and Data Handling and Communications and Tracking Systems. Flight controllers with the CRONUS call sign are responsible for operating the communications and command systems onboard ISS from a flight control console located in the Mission Control Center (MCC) Houston. These individuals are also responsible for training astronauts, cosmonauts, and peers on those systems. Personnel will be expected to complete NASA led flight controller and instructor certifications for this area of expertise.
Primary Responsibilities
As a certified flight controller, primary responsibilities include supporting 24/7 real time ops, providing training, and providing technical expertise as needed.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Physics, Mathematics or Engineering from an accredited college in related engineering discipline, or equivalent experience and less than 2 years prior relevant experience.
Knowledge of engineering principles with background or experience with RF, computers, or communication curricula is highly desired.

US Citizenship Requirements
Candidate must be able to obtain an Public Trust clearance from the customer.
Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, leadership, teamwork, technical, and administrative skills are mandatory.
Candidate must be able to apply technical knowledge and operations concepts to exercise effective, decision making and initiative in a real-time and fast-paced operational environment.
Candidate should be a self-starter who excels in a dynamic environment that requires him/her to work effectively both alone or as part of a team.
Upon entry into a flight controller certification program, the candidate will be required to pass a standard flight controller physical examination.
Shift work (nights, weekends, and holidays) is required.
Candidate must be able to support infrequent travel domestically or internationally.
This position requires successful completion of a government background check before commencement of employment and the ability to produce documentation proving US citizenship.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $50,700.00 - $78,000.00 - $105,300.00Covid Guidance
