We are looking for a Protection and Control designer to work out of the Chicago office.

As an AutoCAD Electrical Drafter / Designer , you can also expect to gain skills in:

  • Interactions with other disciplines (Substation, Relay Settings, SCADA, and Civil Structural)

AutoCAD Electrical Drafter / Designer responsibilities includes, but not limited to the following:

  • Development control P&C design single- and three-line diagrams.
  • Development of schematics and wiring diagrams for major substation equipment
  • Develop AC and DC diagrams.
  • Develop bill of material and bill of wire.
  • Perform other duties as required in the engineering of electric power substations.
  • Ability to follow standard design guidelines and client requirements.

Successful candidates for the AutoCAD Electrical Drafter / Designer must comply with quality control and safe work practices and maintain compliance with project scope, schedule and budget. This position will be a member of a design team comprised of engineers, designers, and CAD technicians and will work with client standards to implement design.

AutoCAD Electrical Drafter / Designer Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical, SDS for ACADE, SDS Utility Data Hub
  • Associates Degree in Applied Science from an accredited institution. High school diploma with additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 2-4 years of substation control/P&C design experience with AutoCAD Electrical. Coursework/project experience will be considered.
  • Knowledge of drafting principles, techniques and procedures.
  • Ability to create and/or modify drawings from engineer-provided markups with a high level of attention to details.
  • Proficiency with Windows operating system environments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Strong professional verbal and written communication skills within a team environment.
  • Highly organized and efficient.
  • Ability to perform tasks in a fast-paced engineering/production environment.

AutoCAD Electrical Drafter / Designer Preferred Qualifications:

  • Substation design and Utility client experience
  • Knowledge of protection & control design experience
  • Experience with file sharing, document management and collaboration tools such as ProjectWise, FTP, SharePoint, etc.
  • Ability to understand and implement a wide range of client CAD standards.
