Job Description:
Leidos is currently seeking a full-time Data Analyst to support the Deployment Health Research Program at the Naval Health Research Center (NHRC) in San Diego, CA. This position will provide analytical and statistical support for large, longitudinal studies examining the effects of military service on the health and well-being of servicemembers. The Data Analyst will be responsible for leading the analysis and interpretation of research studies on a variety of military-relevant research topics. The successful candidate will work closely with the studies’ leadership and stakeholders, including Principle Investigators, military personnel, subject matter experts, consultants, analysts, and research support personnel.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, employees are highly encouraged to work remotely, although occasional visits to the Naval Health Research Center in San Diego will be required. In the future, this position will be required to be on-site for a minimum of 10 days a month.
Primary Responsibilities
Conduct literature reviews for potential and approved scientific projects and manuscripts. Review and remain current with technical and scientific literature in relevant subject matter, epidemiologic methods, and biostatistics.
Develop algorithms and write programs to clean, merge, and update variables/datasets from large epidemiologic studies using SAS and other software programs as needed. Run programs to create final datasets ensuring accuracy.
Conduct statistical analyses to include basic descriptive statistics as well as utilization of generalized linear models (linear, logistic, and Poisson regression). survival analysis (Cox proportional hazards models and complementary log-log models)
Creates graphs, tables, and other visual aids using statistical software programs.
Able to conduct analyses for multiple projects simultaneously.
Prepare and present posters and presentations, at various scientific and military conferences and meetings Support colleagues in writing scientific proposals, manuscripts, and reports, and develop skills to write independently.
Required Qualifications
Master’s degree in Public Health or a related field.
Minimum 3+ years of experience conducting analyses for research studies
Proficient in a statistical software package; SAS Enterprise knowledge preferred.
Due to federal contract restrictions, candidate must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrated ability to conduct complex database management, data merging, cleaning, and verification processes
Expertise in survey methodology, study design, and conducting statistical analyses to collect and interpret longitudinal data.
Knowledge of cross-sectional, longitudinal, and survey sampling statistical methods
Ability to develop and write scientific articles, proposals, abstracts, and presentations
Experience with office productivity software, including word processing, spreadsheets, graphics, and email.
Skill in writing memorandums, correspondence, abstracts, articles, and proposals.
